I was finally able to get a clean catch from Panzer & take it to my vet, I still have to catch one from Spook to make sure he doesn't have one as well.
The results are below

Leukocytes ++
Protein +/- (EDITED)
PH 6
USG 1.020

The vet tech immediately brought a bottle of doxycycline out. I told her that hasn't worked the past couple of times that he's been on it. I had the post with his urine culture from over a year ago pulled up & showed it to her & I asked her about Amphicillin, she said it was an injectable & didn't last long? She said she would ask doc when he came out of the room of another patient he was with. She came back & asked to see the culture results again wanted to know about Enrofloxacin it had an R by it meaning his body is resistant of it. It was getting super close to shot time so I told her to just give me amoxicillin. She brought out a bottle of liquid amoxicillin 30mL Amoxi drops 2 mL PO SID until gone. On the box it says give 2mL once a day until gone. I also told her I would need a refill of ondansetron from chewy. She looked annoyed with me & said to request it from chewy & he would approve it. I don't think he will need it taking amoxicillin but I'm low on it so I have a bottle on the way. I was talking to the receptionist while checking out saying OMG I don't know how this is going to go with liquid but I will try it. I gave him his first dose right before his +3 AMPS snack. First I tried sitting with him on my lap laying on his back he wasn't having it, he jumped up on the chair to look out the window & with lots of struggling & my hand getting clawed I managed to use the 1 mL dropper that comes in the bottle twice & got 2 mL in him. There was some on me, some on him, & some on the window but he got the majority of it. I called the vet & told her about our experience & asked if they had it in pill form, she said let me ask the vet tech. She came back & said yes they have it in pill form but the vet tech would have to get it oked with doc tomorrow when he comes in. I sure hope he approves it. Is there another way I can give him the liquid if I have to continue to give it to him? Will he be able to taste it in food or baby food?
I also asked if they have the PUREVAX rabies vaccine, they looked & said no, so I'm going to test & feed the boys & call the other vet to see if they have it. He won't be able to get it anytime soon because of course my car is making a noise, it needs rotors & break pads on the front so the $ I make in the next 3 days will go for that & also to pay for Spooks clean catch. If it isn't one thing it's another!

I thought that once before you had tried amoxicillin? That’s the problem with enterococcus - cephalosporins and quinolone antibiotics (like the Baytril/Enrofloxacin and drugs like Zenequin and Convenia shots - which is a cephalosporin. So any drugs in that class should have an R next to them on that list - because enterococcus is resistant to them. I wish they could do a culture, because sometimes there’s more than one bacteria involved. I understand about money being tight though. I hope the amoxi will work!

I hope so too & hopefully we can get some pills tomorrow because he's going to tear me up with this liquid crap! Should I ask for a different antibiotic all together? Something that they might have LOL they are so old school it isn't even funny!

Can they order the PUREVAX?
I will ask them about ordering it tomorrow when I talk to them. I called the other vet, the high tech vet that does cystocentesis & cultures & they said they use Vanguard for vaccines. I Googled it & it's not the PUREVAX. If my old school vet can't order it I will call the vet that I fired :p & see if I can take him there for it. That's where he got the first one. We will have to wait a bit until I have the $ but we will get there. I'm really strongly thinking about going back to prozinc!

Update on Panzer I got 50mg pills of amoxicillin one tablet 2xs a day for 10 days. I asked about them ordering the PUREVAX rabies vaccine for Panzer & Spook. They said no because they would have to order a minimum of 25 & they don't use them. So I'm going to call the vet that I fired after Panzers dental almost 2yrs ago when I have more $ to see if I can take them there for that. Then if Panzer still has an infection I can take him back to the high tech vet for a cystocentesis.

Update on Spook he does have an infection as I suspected. I was able to get a clean catch from him right before feeding them @+7.75 AMPS. His report reads

WBC + PH 6.5 Protein + USG 1.025
I am going to attempt to give him the liquid amoxicillin 1.5mg once a day as he only weighs 14lbs. If I can't get him to take it tonight before PMPS I will call the vet in the AM & get him some pills as well.
@Suzanne & Darcy can you take a look at Spooks urine test results & tell me what they mean please?

Urine pH is good. USG of 1.025 is still within normal limits. Protein in the urine can be caused by a UTI or blood in the urine. Normal urine should not contain many white blood cells. An increased number of white blood cells can indicate infection (of the bladder or kidneys) or inflammation. What did the vet say?

Okay so pretty much the same as Panzer. The vet was busy, the same vet tech that checked Panzer's urine told me had an infection & I told her I would try the amoxicillin drops that were impossible to give to Panzer. It didn't go well, I was only able to give Spook 1ml instead of 1.5ml because they didn't give me a syringe to use instead of the bottle dropper. I was going to ask for a syringe tomorrow but it was traumatizing for Spook he hid under the chair & wouldn't come out to eat for several minutes after I put there food down. So I'm going to see about getting him pills as well $30 wasted on the liquid but oh well I would rather him have a pill pocket like he was used to a while back. He saw Panzer eat his out of my hand & was looking like where's mine. The pee to me looked like it most likely had blood in it. My poor boys...we will get past this soon that's my promise to them :cat:

Yes, it can be injected, but …. From VCA Animal hospitals:
“Ampicillin is also available as a liquid oral solution, tablet, or capsule and is given by mouth. If given by mouth, give on an empty stomach at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after feeding. If vomiting occurs after dosing on an empty stomach, try giving future doses with food or a small treat.”

I do feel sorry for the boys and for you, Christina! These UTIs seem just to never end. So the vet looked at the urine? And sent the tech out to tell you that Spook had an infection? Is that what happened? I hope that antibiotic will be the right one for Spook too.

You no more than them, they probably don't carry it & didn't want to mess with getting it or writing a prescription for it...smh just like the whole thing with PUREVAX. He seemed to really care about the animals but now it's looking like it's more about the $ I'm sure all vets do alot of vaccinations even over vaccinating them I'm sure because that's the bulk of there income so sad!

Yes I don't why they keep getting them! To be honest with you the vet tech probably looked at the urine & then would have discussed it with doc (that's what they call him) but I figured I would try the liquid amoxicillin for Spook so it wouldn't go to waste. He did good with it years ago but he was still a baby probably not even 1yr old if I'm remembering correctly. There only there until 1pm tomorrow & doc isn't there on Tue & Thurs it's just vet tech appointments & people picking up meds. I will probably have to wait until they consult with doc on Friday so I may have to wait until then to get pills for Spook. I will give him more liquid tomorrow if that's the case so he can start to feel better.
Panzer's 1 dose of liquid last night & 1 dose of a pill tonight must be helping him. He's having a nice high green/low blue flat cycle so far tonight.

Looking at Panzer & Spooks urine results side by side on there papes, it looks like Panzer's results aren't as bad as Spooks? I edited the protein results for Panzer to what is actually on the paper. Does this mean Panzer didn't have protein in his urine? @Suzanne & Darcy

Compared to Panzer's last urine results in post 04-28 Panzer had WBC PH was the same no results on protein, his USG was 5points lower & he had no leukocytes? Does that mean this urine sample looks better or worse.?

Oh my. This is confusing. Sorry. I am on vacation but am checking in to see how everyone is doing. Do you mean that you edited his urine test results on the Labs tab on his spreadsheet? Or just that you were just comparing old threads to his latest lab results?

I'm so sorry to bother you on vacation, no need to rush to get back to me.

I was comparing old results from 4-28 but I also noticed that it said on the protein part on his urinalysis from this time. It was written like this protein +/- & I had originally just wrote protein + & didn't add the /- like it was on the paper. So I don't know if that means he didn't have protein or not?

Increased Panzer's dose @ PMPS still doing the pain meow still on antibiotics. I'm going to start a new post tomorrow with some questions for kidney help. All of these infections/UTIs can't be good for them & he been on antibiotics for too long!
