? Noah +6 he is 1.8!! 5.3 and 7.8 after 1 hour

I just read your other post - if he is shaking please give Honey or Karo ASAP! rub it on his gums if you can
He can walk properly but it’s like his head had some tick like shaking …. He was starving and now he ate lots of medium carb food …. I’m gonna test in in 10 minutes again and update . If he is dropping lower I will give him honey . Am I doing right ?

5.3 !!!!! After 20 minutes !!!! Such a relief !! So I don’t go for honey I think medium carb food were enough
Correct !! Shall I test again in 20 minutes ? I don’t give him any more food anymore right ? he ate 2 pouch of medium carb food and some dry 20 minutes ago!

5.3 = 95 that is a safe number. I'm very happy the Medium Carb was enough to bring Noah up safely :cat:.
How big were the pouches of medium carb food, how many grams? Do you know the % of carbs in the dry food?
Please test again in 20 minutes.

7.2 after half an hour without extra food … he is leading up… shall I check in 1 hour ?

That 18% makes it High Carb food. Will you be able to keep testing him for at least two hours after feeding the dry?
YOU DID VERY WELL.
What I do when I get a number that LOW (which for me was yesterday morning ,) I go to the Sticky on how to handle low numbers which I printed out, added the first item, and keep with the meter:

Test again to make sure it wasn't a bad strip.
  • Depending on how carbohydrate sensitive your cat is, feed approximately a teaspoon or less of gravy from high carb food or high carb food only. (If you have a cat with GI issues, using a couple of drops of syrup plus low carb food is an alternative.)
  • Test again in 15 – 20 min. Depending on the numbers, give more HC food.
  • Repeat the above steps every 15 – 20 min. until your cat tests in the 50 mg/dL (2.8 mmol/L) or above range for 2 consecutive tests. Continue to feed in small amounts to keep numbers in a safe range.
  • Test in 30 - 40 min. and repeat the test and feed process until there are 2 consecutive tests where numbers are stable or rising.
  • Test in an hour and follow the same steps.

Make sure to give yourself a snack too. Low numbers are hard on the humans ;).

Sure looks like it. I think checking in an hour is a great. Don't forget to get yourself a snack too. Cats shouldn't be allowed to have all the fun ;)

Thank you so much

Thank you so much ❤️

I just got to the board now. Congrats on the reduction. You and Angela handled the hypo beautifully and with symptoms I think it was one.

Bounce clearing cycles are often active. It’s a good idea to get a +2 or 3 to see if it will be and to avoid a very low nadir.

You did great!!

One observation -- high carb is any food over 15%. You gave Noah high carb which was just fine.

There are are a couple of other ways to enter numbers on your spreadsheet. I would stack the numbers in a cell along with the time I tested. You can look at Gabby's spreadsheet to see how I entered the information. You will have to manually color the cell.

Thanks everyone !! noah is doing great now and I will shoot him a reduction tonight . So he will get 1 unit ! I hope he will not bounce up too much …. I will keep you all posted ☺️☺️☺️

I had that happen. I think most likely it was fine especially since you didn’t smell anything. I think you most likely are seeing another bounce which is understandable given how low the bg was. I’d just get a before bed test and don’t worry.

Ok and thanks ❤️

Never give a 2nd shot. It doesn't matter if you gave a shot that in one side of the skin and and you saw insulin shoot out the other side, never give more insulin. You just don't know if any or how much went in.
