MICIO and I would love to THANK ANYONE that, since Oct 2021, helped us understand and gave us the strenght to face this aweful disease. The knowledgeof and support I received from this group about Diabetes (and many other diseases) goes above and beyond anybody's expectations.
I'll be forever grateful for helping me providing Micio a better quality of life .

As many already know, on Jan 26th we said goodbye to Micio. He asked for help to cross the rainbow bridge peacefully and with dignity.... he was also in a hurry to put on those beautiful wings and fly all over the places.

Micio ( Mee-cho, means Kitty cat in Italian), came to my life out of nowhere back in 2009 when he was already about 5 yrs old and since he had been with us. It had been a tumultuous road at times but I would do it all over again as the joy and love he brought into our lives was and it still immense.
The most chilled guy, strong but sweet character, funny at times but, more then anything, Micio was a noble soul.
He fought pretty hard throughout all of his diseases and beat the odds at times 'till he couldn't anymore.
The hardest and scary part for me was to make that call as I felt like I was setting him up for "death row" once, in reality, I was actually gifting him with ultimate act of love that he truly deseved. I didn't wanted to let my baby go...a few times in the past I asked him "Please not now, please just a little bit longer..." and he did hang in there 'till I finally saw it was time and couldn't hold him anymore.
We had a vet coming to the home to perform a seamless and very peaceful euthanasia.
I hold his hands and head the whole time and watched his soul leaving his body while I was telling him how much I love him....YES, it was and still painfull but in the same time it's a relief knowing he's not suffering anymore. There's not a single inch of the house that won't remind me of him...I can stil feel him rubbing through my legs while preparing his food and hear him bagging for food all of the times or just simply looking to be brushed while sunbathing....
Already missing the heck out of my beautiful boy and, although he left a huge hole in my life, I think about him with a big smile.
Here's some of my favorite pics of MICIO ❤️

Simone such beautiful pictures of Micio thank you for sharing them, such a handsome boy. You know how I feel because we have spoken recently about Micio.
You will be missed Micio but never forgotten. I'm sure Micio is having the time of his life running around and chasing butterflies with all his friends who have crossed over. Since your mom is Italian , I hope you are enjoying a big dish of pasta ,meatballs and braciole and for dessert a nice fat cannoli :cat: :rb_icon:cat_wings>o

Thank you for sharing Micio’s story and wonderful pictures. :bighug::bighug: He looks very contented in those pictures, he found his right person.
Tnx. It took him a few years before he felt completely comfortable and relaxed and finally started talking and purring...he even learned how to say "Ma-ma' " from Missy at feeding time, that always melt my heart. With acromegaly his voice became very rough lately and couldn't talk anymore but, 1 day before he passed, he said "Mom" one more time right before I fed him and that I will cherish in my heart forever.

May I ask...where in this group can I post Missy's last blood work results and have someone possibly take a look? I'm afraid she has diabetes as well

:bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: I have (almost) no words. Like everyone here, I know the pain of losing a fur baby all too well - too many times over the past few years. I hurt inside and cry too every time I read one of these. Micro looks very happy and handsome in those pics, thank you for sharing your love with him.

You can post on the Feline Health forum. Have you been checking her blood sugar at home too? It's possible she's under some stress right now too with all that's been going on.

Tnx, I will post on the Health forum soon. But quickly, I started testing Missy at home the first time on Dec. 2021 and up 'till July 2022 she was around early 100's, then her numbers started raising and her BG's range now are 130-140 (rarely are lower and sometimes can be a bit higher than that). I've been testing her regularly and with at least 2-3 hours fasting. I took her to the vet on Dec 20th, 2022, all of her values are higher (BUN, SDMA, GLUCOSE...) and with FRUCTOSAMINE at 371 vet still not concerned and just told me to test her just once a month. I am concerned for pancreatitis, diabetes and CKD. I will look for a different vet if I can find one cause this one likes to wait till is too late...
