Ethan is dropping like rock this morning. I gave him a TBSP of food at ~+10.75.

He continued to drop so I gave his full breakfast portion at ~+11.

Not sure if I overreacted but his drops freak me out. His shot is due in 1 hour.

Did he get food at night? Looks like he was clearing a bounce and kept dropping. Some cats nadir at the end of the cycle when clearing a bounce.

Let's see where he is at AMPS. Any chance you can test with a regular meter and see where he is at?
 
Thanks @Bandit's Mom. He got food at roughly ~+2 last night which seemed to keep him stable-ish until the AM.

I saw your earlier suggestion about a timed feeder through the night - I'll have to look at the ones that scan the microchip as we have 2 other cats that are prone to stealing each other's food.

We bought the supplies for regular blood tests but realized afterwards the Freestyle Lite strips don't work with the Freestyle Libre meter (we did speak with a pharmacist about it so that was a bit of a surprise)....we still have to buy the Lite meter.
 
Just saw the numbers you filled in the SS. So she was 142 at +10? The 56 at +11.5 looks suspicious. The kind of wonky reading that is common with the Libre. Was he lying on it?
 
Yes-- on the graph it literally shows a straight line down at around +10.5. Now its flaking out.

My plan is to stall as I'd like to give him his full dose, and he comes up quickly after he eats. Meantime we're running out to get the Lite meter.
 
It's about ~20 minutes past shot time but the Libre won't give a reading so I'm not confident we can monitor where he's at.

We're going to buy the Lite meter now so we'll have the option to do a prick test if needed, meantime the Libre might come back (it gets flaky when the glucose is changing fast).

Prior to flaking last reading from the Libre was 56 (I might be able to get a bit more data if I download it). Current reading from the Lite (prick test) is 75.6

Edit- I know we can shoot >50 but I'm a little nervous since we're still new at this and don't have a ton of data on Ethan's patterns. Still stalling at +1.

@Bandit's Mom He ate his breakfast portion almost 3 hours ago now, and I gave him some extra food around +1 to distract him from the prick test. Libre is back online and he's at 85 at almost +2.

I am contemplating giving 1 unit since we're at the 2 hour stall limit. He's sleeping calmly at the moment.
 
He is heading up without food and will eventually bounce from these greens so you could shoot the full dose if you can monitor. if you are following TR, he hasn't earned a reduction either.
However, since this is your first green preshot, if you feel more comfortable shooting 1U, that is better than a skip.

Btw, in the SS, you would put all the readings from +12 to the time you shot in the AMPS cell. So it would say "XX at +12", "YY @+13", "ZZ @ +14" to indicate that you shot 2 hours late.

(I was wondering about how to best reflect this in the SS- but didn't want to pester with non-urgent questions! I'll update it now.)

If I understand correctly, now I will need to give the PM dose at what was +2 and slowly work him back from here in 15-minute increments.

Yes. You can work back in 15 min increments. So tonight's shot will be 11 hrs and 45 mins from this morning's and tomorrow morning's will be 11 hours and 45 mins from tonight's.

If he bounces real hard from here you could even advance tonight's shot by a whole hour is he's 400+ at +11.
