On 12/16/2022 I took Max in for his annual visit. I was so happy to report Max's BG was doing really well. Now that's out the window.
Max found me when he was about a year old. At that point he already had really bad tartar. Some kitties just have a tendancy for that. He's had three dentals between the age of 1-10. He's 16 now and he has needed one for the last few years. Due to his age and history of having a little bit of a long recovery from anethesia, my vet and I had thought it was not worth the risk, but now I think it is. Now he has inflammation in addition to the tartar and his breath is horrible and I'm sure he must be sore. We decided to move forward if his bloodwork looked good and it did, so I scheduled the appointment. It's coming up this week. Now I'm nervous since his BG has been high. I don't know if I should increase again before his appointment. I'd love some input. His 2023 spreadsheet is just ugly, but the end of 2022 really shows when the inflammation kicked in I think.
Max also has IBS, but he doesn't seem to be having a flare. I have been giving him his budesonide for the last 5-6 days just in case that was the cause of the BG increase, but it doesn't look like it's the culprit.
If the dental goes well, I know the quality of his life will be improved and I'm so nervous he might not make it through. But it needs to be done.
So any input on if I should do another increase or keep where he's at until after his dental would be greatly appreciated.
