Hello friends,
My Tigera’s BG for her amps is 9.0 (162 usa)
She was supposed to go up to 4U this morning since she has held her previous dose of 3.75U for over 6cyles … pls have a look at her spread… I don’t know what dose to give her as I’m worried about Hypo event. Her vet said 1/2 dose if under 10 Bg but i realize vets are not as seasoned in diabetes as members here. Thank you. I’ve converted her spreadsheet to USA

I think you want to hold the 3.75U this morning. The depot is still rebuilding from the token dose a couple of mornings back.

Lantus is actually very good at giving flat cycles when you shoot low.

Can you get a couple of tests if you shoot the full dose?

I would stay with the same dose and not increase. Because you reduced the dose to 1.5 units on one occasion, the 6 cycle count starts again and she dropped into green although she was fasting during that cycle and had a half dose.
Have you chosen a dosing method yet. Look at the yellow stickies at the top of the page.
I would give the 3.75 unit dose as long as you can monitor the cycle and have some high carb food if needed.
I would start with getting a +2

Thank you so so much! Ok il keep her at 3.75 full dose right ? I can get a +2 I think I’m the SLGS method

Let's start with a +2 and go from there? If he is higher, he might be bouncing and more tests may not be needed.
Thanks again . I was reading in the SLGS that if kitty is between 8.3-11 bg that a reduced 1/2 dose is recommended or hold off , retest or skip.. if no data collected. So I’m ok that I gave her the full dose since I’ve been collecting data ? Also should I worry about ketones ? She isn’t showing any signs but I read that if there is an increase or decrease with dose to check for ketones ?

Yes. With SLGS you can shoot any number over 90 (5 mmol/L) if you can monitor. The higher no-shoot levels are for caregivers whose cats are new to insulin and who do not have enough data on how their cat responds to insulin.

Does she have a history of ketones? It's always good to check for ketones periodically. You get urine testing strips (ketostix) that you can use to do so. Unless there is a history of ketones, a test once or twice a month should be okay. Besides high numbers you want to watch out for signs of her being unwell like not eating or drinking.

She hasn’t had any ketones thankfully the vet checked and negative .. I haven’t done any tests on her for ketones yet as she always seems to eat , drink , and not throw up . I do have the kit so I will try to test her today. So far her + 2 was 8.5 and her +4 is 6.5 I’m hoping I can keep testing every 2 hours and make this a curve day
