Yikes! Is spontaneous remission a real thing? My completely uneducated an inexperienced FD mind goes….maybe she needs less? Even if she ends up in slightly higher overall number but there is less spiking and diving? Or maybe she’s a candidate for SLGS? I totally feel for you. Sounds like you’ve done all the recommended things to help smooth the curve….frequent feedings, etc. It’s so hard on one’s health….you need a break. :bighug::bighug::bighug: Repeating again, these are just my musings. I am quite curious to see how the experts weigh in.

Oh my, Cleo! I wonder if Levemir would be less bouncy? I think I read that it can be smoother when I wasn’t sure if Lantus was stinging Biggie and I was considering a switch.

HA, I'm not that lucky She's just that unpredictable!
you need a break. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
Who needs sleep anyway!

Her usual shot time is 6am/6pm EDT. Yesterday AM was delayed so shot times on 12/12/22 were 8:30am/8pm.
Now today, if I shoot, it will be 10am/10pm EDT accounting for the 2 hour after feeding HC.

If I don't shoot - she'll bounce into another galaxy, then clear the bounce when its most inconvenient, ie 3AM.
If I do shoot, she'll bounce today then clear the bounce tonight, ie 3AM LOL
Decisions, decisions! I'll let the numbers tell me what I should do.

34 is quite low! Is it quite predictable that a bounce is cleared that fast? One time Wendy told me that if a cat seems consistently to drop over the course of a cycle, it means they're still clearing a bounce. But Cleo is that "Every Cat" from ECID :D

I think I read that it can be smoother
If you can point me to that I would love to read it. Although I think Cleo would just take it as a challenge LOL
Wow! What a start to your day!
Its the best part of waking up... DH and I place BG bets. Closest without going over wins and the loser has to wash the dishes/clean the litter box/go to the store/

HI Manuel!!! Good to see you still lurking but shouldn't you be enjoying the poke free life ;). Hope Emma continues to do well. We are soooooo happy for you.
The only predictable thing about Cleo is unpredictability. What cat dives after getting 8% carbs that late in the cycle...twice:banghead:
Quit being so exciting Cleo! I hope she learns how to earn some reductions less dramatically!
Hopefully she'll listen to you! DRAMA QUEEN

Ang I see you were wondering is Levemir might be smoother
I did a search on our group and came up with this

I typed in the search area up top and typed Levemir smoother , more info came up you just have to read through them. So type it in where it says search
I can tag @Wendy&Neko for you I think she might be able to give you her opinion by looking at your SS

It might be worth a try! A lot of folks say the nadirs happen later for their cats though ECID. But you are up all night with her anyway, and it seems like you could go to bed and wake up when you think she would be dipping and hopefully save yourself from staying up the entire night…

I found a lot of good threads about Levemir being flatter when I was researching it. There were a few really good ones where people talked about how Lantus made their cats moody and irritable twitchy and Levemir was better for that, too.
This is an excellent thread where several people document their experiences with switching from Lantus to Levemir. Lots of good info about onsets/duration, flattening the curve out, etc.

We are soooooo off schedule! The PM shot was supposed to be at 10pm but I fell asleep and she didn't get it until +13. Here we are at Pm+8.5 and she's still coming down...again. I have a meeting from what will be her +1- +3 today if I shoot from her last 12 hour shot.
@Bandit's Mom I'm thinking that if she's still coming down at AM shot time like the last 2 PM cycles, I skip the am dose (11am EDT), stick with lower end LC, and just shoot PM at our old shot times (6pm). That would mean her next insulin shot would be +19 and we would be back on schedule.

Let's see the +11.5 (which is the earliest you can shoot if you decide to). A skip might help drain the depot, but I am also concerned that it might leave her in higher numbers considering her tendency to fail reductions.

I just got a +11.25 (she was very hungry and adamant about test, treat lol) and she's at 155, down about 30 pts in the last 2 hours and she had a tsp of 3.5% LC at +8.5 and now. @Bandit's Mom?

Sorry. Just seeing this. What would you like to do? Shoot or skip and shoot 6 hours from now?
TBH I don't know how much of this action is really the higher depot. I've had to stall/shot late totaling 5 hours over the last 2 days/4 cycles which could/should act like a decrease especially since shes had HC. Her bounces to pink are definitely from the limes. I feel like I'm rambling.:banghead:

I'm going to call today an experiment.

I'm going to test again before I have to leave which would be +13ish.
If that number is up from the 155 then I will shoot and worry about getting back on track later.
If she's still falling then I'll shoot at +17 or +18 when I'm back home and worry about moving shot times later.
Makes sense?

Why not shoot now rather than at +13?
I have no idea where she is! She's in the house somewhere but this is her "ME Time".

If I shoot now (1) I'll only be able to get a +1 then the next test might not happen (if meeting runs long) until +4 or +5 and (2) no one is around to feed her until +4 or +5.
If I shoot at +13 and if my meeting runs long, and if she decides NOT to bounce I'll be able to get a +3 and then feed the curve.
She's just so unpredictable :banghead:. I didn't see her clearing the bounce in the same cycle.

I don't know how to thank you for indulging me! :bighug: I'm just overworked and sleep deprived I can't seem to see the forest through the trees.

Even with her failing reductions we've been able to get her back on track with increases per TR. My gut is telling me that your post #17 is the way to go. I won't be worried about her (too much) while I'm gone.

Don't know if this following nerdy info might be misleading.
So, some BG datas I collected from 10/01/2022 to 10/10/2022 (see my spreadsheet), I have about 30 data points that show the BG difference took from FreeStyle Lite and ReliOn Premier Classic. The numbers were obtained mostly taking from the same blood drop, only a couple that were not, but still within minutes. So the numbers on the cells are FreeStyle Lite's, the numbers in the comments are ReliOn's. For me, I felt less stressed after switching to another meter. :p

Also this is the numbers comparison spreadsheet.
