Looking at the remarks column of your SS I can see at diagnosis 14/10 the vet got you to try just feeding a low carb diet and testing the BG every few days. But no insulin. Then the next remarks 18/11 say you took him to the clinic where they put him on a drip and there were ketones present. Then you said the vet said to increase the dose to 2 units but the “community said “never increase”
What community was that?
And you have changed from a pet meter to a human meter.
Have you tested for ketones since the 29 November? I would recommend you test daily if there have been ketones present.

To do TR you need to be feeding a low carb wet diet with no dry food at all. Is that what you are feeding Noah?
And to do TR you need to test before every dose and at least once during each cycle am and pm cycles.
If you are able to do that yes you can do TR. But before we can advise to increase the dose we would need to see tests in both cycles for a few days to make sure Noah is not dropping low at night or during the day.
How does that sound?

Yes no dry food already for the last 2 months .
Yes if you see my spreadsheet I’m already doing lots of test
I miss the one during the night
But I can commit to that
Ok. So you can change the dosing method in the SS from SLGS to TR and you will also need to put that into the signature,.
If you have a look at the link I sent you above called Help Us Help You, it has all about setting up your signature to tell us all about Noah as we look at that and the SS when we help you so both need to be up to date all the time…thanks.
If you can get the BG tests done for the next few days so we can see what is happening during the day and at night, then we can advise you on the dose.:)

I cannot see where to do my signature
click on your name up top above where it says sesrch and then tap on the word signature and add this information
  • Add info we need to help you:
    • Caregiver & kitty's name
    • DX: Date
    • Name of Insulin (do not include dose or frequency)
    • Name of your meter
    • Diet: "LC wet" or "dry food" or "combo"
    • Dosing: TR or SLGS or Custom (if applicable)
    • DKA or other recent health issue (if applicable)

Hi Bron, just to clarify, there were no ketones at diagnosed at FD diagnosis or after the fact, through a discussion with OP (with screenshots from OPs vet/RVT) we found it was a glucose meter that only recommended they check for ketones because glucose was high. The fluids were given more for dehydration, not for ketones but we still urged the OP to test for ketones as a precaution.

Thanks for that information.

Welcome to the FDMB. I noticed you have been shooting 1.0 or 1.0F. When it’s time to increase we usually do it in .25 increments. As Bron said give it a couple of days.
I wait a couple of day and increase of 0.25 . now today at +8 he is 5.2 ... he gain a decrease ??
