11/5 Marley Lantus AMPS 155, +8 81, +9 64, +10 60, +11 60, PMPS 86, +3 33, +4.5 36, +5 27, + 5.5 49

I will start a new thread but I wanted to post here, again to thank you all for your help and just to let you know Marley is well

I got up to feed him and check him through the night but I didnt test him as that felt the right thing to do.

Marley is a rescue cat and had suffered a lot of trauma. Getting him to be ok to be tested and injected initially was the hugest mountain to climb probably of my life I spent months half under a bed weeping, trying to coax him out and trying to get him to understand I was trying to save his life not kill him. Eventually we got there, and now he comes readily for tests and injections- but still always on his terms. There is a line I wont cross with him in terms of force, unless his life depended on it. I know last night was a very delicate situation and it was a grey area by the time he refused tests but all I can do is trust my instinct and I felt he was out of the woods enough to not test, though I very much kept a regular eye and kept up the feeds.

Anyway, in managing last night I somehow managed to totally not set my morning alarm so now I have injected him 1 hour and 20 mins late. Not ideal I know.

AMPS 334

And yes thank you, I reduced the dose to 2.25

Thanks again everyone

You are very welcome. I understand; there are battles I’ve had to learn not to fight with Jackson too. Or to be very patient in my attempts. It was two years before I could trim his claws without growling and snapping - two people needed! Now I can handle all his feet gently… most of the time. Thankfully, his injections was not one such battle. The few times I’ve done ear pricks, I’ve gotten the feeling that if I had to do those frequently he would not be nearly so amiable. The first prick he’s like, “okay…”, the second (because I’m not good at getting blood) he starts getting rather annoyed.

Not much help for tonight but more so you are prepared in case Mar Lei has low numbers again.
I also feed raw which is basically no carb, I have been stocking up on a variety of cans and pouches of wet food of different carb percentages so I can bring him up when needed as well as feed the curve. I bring them home and label them with the percentages so they are ready when I need them without having to look up numbers.
I have been getting Weruva which he loves, they list all their percentages on their website so it is easy to find.
Hope Mar Lei comes up safely so you can get some rest :)
So what percentage do I need to make it a high carb food? Is there a particular Weruva one you recommend?

I try to keep a variety so I can prop him up a bit if I need to or higher percentages for if he is dropping to low.

These are what I have now, I just take a look at the website while I’m in the store so I know what percentages they are then label them when I get home so I don’t have to think about it again.
If I am just trying to slow the drop a bit I would give between 5-9% if he is dropping fast I up the %. For a hypo event like yours I would go with the highest I have so 19% the higher the better.
ECID (every cat is different) some are more sensitive to carbs some are less so trying out foods and testing is the best way to see what works for you.
Hope that helps!
