Why is this happening????
Why is this happening????
I know. She wasn't this high without insulin. I did get her new Semglee pens yesterday. I wanted to start them this a.m., but I didn't have enough time to open them and see how to use them. I did watch the video yesterday and it seems pretty easy. I'd think my current insulin is bad, but how does she drop so low? So lost.....I am baffled myself. She would always bounce from the 50s, but never this hard!
Tagging @tiffmaxee and @Wendy&Neko for their advice.
Im going to get the pen ready tonight and use it for tomorrow morning's dose. That way I'm awake if things get wacky. Who knows anymore!I don’t get it either. It seems odd if the insulin is bad and test it has to have lost some of its potency. It doesn’t explain the greens unless her pancreas is helping some. Just a guess on my part. You use the pen like a vial with a syringe. It’s easy.
How do I know when to up her dose? The huge drops are so random it seems. Tonight she had another one. Huge bounce coming......is there a way to put the brakes on these monster drops? If you are following TR, you are holding doses too long. An increase, maybe only short lived, might kick start the healing process again. Of course you can try a new pen first, but bad pens don’t get a cat into the 50’s. It’s also possible fast drops are contributing. For example, AM cycle of 10/15. I found bounces from fast drops worse than low numbers ones.
Food is the tool. What + times do you feed her now? If you know that she tends to drop big at a certain time, then try to get some food into her 20-30 minutes before then, to try to slow the drop. I feed her at amps, +2, +4, +8, pmps, and +2. I was giving her a nighttime snack before bed, bed I can get an extra hour of sleep if I don't and she doesn't seem to miss it. I did try splitting her amps and +2 and feeding her every hour, but it didn't seem to change anything and I can't be running up to feed her all day! Is there a certain amount of calories per meal I should aim for? She's getting about 27 per meal.Food is the tool. What + times do you feed her now?
