Hi hoping someone is still on right now. My cat Bindie was diagnosed two months ago. recently she started going into green/blue areas so i had to watch and try my best to adjust dosing. we seemed to do well starting last week but then she started to become more lethargic and uninterested in eating. i thought at first she was just constipated so started with a sprinkle of miralax on Sunday and she managed a small poop. yesterday she ate some but today she wouldn’t eat in the morning so i had to skip dose again bc of work and tonight she still isn’t eating but her BG was 131 so not terrible? i managed to get a churo with some miralax down her. she’s been drinking normally.

so question just now she had trouble jumping onto the couch and so i picked her up and she just kind of slouched there so i tested her BG at its at 148 i bought ketone strips but she also hasn’t peed. im afraid it might be ketones? or something else i can’t see? so not sure if i should go to ER Vet tonight or wait until tomorrow to call? i also have a previously scheduled vet appt on Sat.

How much food has she had in the last 24 hours? What day did she start going off her food?

So just made her the soupiest breakfast and she started licking it up but didn’t have much although she does keep looking at it.

even though the BG isn't that high, those symptoms sound very much like DKA, for which my cat Hendrick was hospitalized and almost died. DKA can go from mild to severe to deadly in a very short time, with Hendrick it was about 48 hours. I would not wait, is there an ER vet you can call?

Have you managed to get a urine sample to test for the ketones yet?
Licking at the food and walking away sounds like nausea to me.
How is she generally now?

Hi everyone thanks for the support. i ended up taking her to the ER vet and she has a large amount of fluids in her abdomen and is not doing good. they’re thinking either extreme pancreatitis or maybe a mass but nothing conclusive yet. please send

Fluid in the abdominal cavity (ascites) is not good and could be cancer. However, if cancer there may not be a discrete mass. One thing to do would be to drain some of the fluid and measure it specific gravity and look at the fluid under a microscope.

Poor Bindie. I’m glad you took her into the ER. No wonder she didn’t feel well. I hope they figure out what is happening soon. :bighug:

they’ve drained 33oz from her ☹️ checking again for any masses. thanks all for your thoughts and prayers
