9/4 Jasper AMPS 335

Hi Rachel

Thank you for updating the spreadsheet.

Under the TR protocol, if the BG is high and flat, we would typically increase the dose by 0.5u after six cycles (three days). However, Jasper is not new to this dance and he’s had DKA so, often, we will do a bit of fast tracking especially when the dose has been taken way down below what it should have been. It’s my understanding that you were advised by another group to do this “rebound check” and we know it rarely works; it just puts the cat further behind.

As I said in the condo from 9/2, because you were just getting started here in FDMB and had recently been testing more often, it would be ok to raise the dose by 0.25u instead of 0.5u so he’d be getting 2.25u bid. My suggestion is that you raise the dose again in the morning as he will have completed four cycles at 2u. I would just increase it to 2.25u and lets give him another four cycles and see where he is. Hopefully we will see some response.

Any time you raise the dose, you want to think about testing a bit more while the dose is settling in. Besides the pre shots, I’d suggest you get a +2 both day and evening cycles and then a midday test during the day. At night, if you can also get a before bed test, that would help build a bit more data.

Each day when we start a new thread...or “condo” as we call it in this forum, we link the one from the previous day as I have done above. That is really, really helpful to those advising you. Sometimes we need to quickly see what happened in the last condo and it saves alot of time where we don’t have to look for it. The link just lets us click on it.

To link the previous day’s condo, go to that condo and copy the browser address. Open a new condo and put the cursor in the first text box and type something like “Previous Condo” or “Last Condo”, etc. Highlight it and then go to the tool bar above the text box and click on the hyperlink which looks like a sideways paper clip. It’s the 7th from the left. Paste the copied browser address into the box and click “insert”. I’ve already done it for you today so you don’t need to do it again.

Please let me know your thoughts or questions.

Ok we will raise the dose to 2.25 in the morning. The only thing is in the pm +2 is my before bed test and there is no way I can stay up longer than that, sometimes my partner will bit not always be able to either because he works early and I am pregnant. Will that be enough because if it seems at all dangerous we may need to figure some else out. We cab definitely do the extra test during the day time, the night time test is just hard for me right now.

That’s fine. I’d suggest you read back on what I wrote about the +2 in the 9/2 condo. It will help you decide if there’s a real need to test past +2 at night. However, any time your partner is there in the evening and up past +2, perhaps he can test.

The other option is to move the shot times back, if possible, so it gives you more time at night before you go to bed. We have many members who do that but it’s up to you as everyone’s situation is different.

I read the previous condo on the +2 after PMPS and as far as I understand if it is the same or lower I should try for another test at +3?
unfortunately can't really move shot times forward either as I just need a certain amount of sleep right now or I get a headache.

His AMPS was 250, should I still raise the dose to 2.25?
