? 09/01 Eddie AMPS 396 +3.5 463 + 5 445 PMPS 425 +3 434 +10 443 (Day 5 Levemir)

Any tests last night after PMPS? I saw your question about increasing, but would like to see the full picture first.

Hi Wendy, yes, @ +4 398. I just filled in SS. What happens sometime is that I fill in the World numbers and the SS doesn't populate the US numbers. So, last night PMPS 446 +4 398.

Thanks.

Answering question about testing, would be good if you can get some +8 to +10 range sometimes, as that is "typical" nadir.

Hmmm, I think Eddie's food schedule gets in the way of accuracy for +8 or +10, unless I get him before AMPS because he has food at PM with insulin; then I give another snack usually at +3 or +4 or even +5 when I test. In other words, he gets two meals and two snacks. I'll have to see what I can do at a +10 before AMPS; that would be a good time.

Can you get a test before you feed him at +8 or +10? Most of us do test, feed, then shoot.

Wendy would wait to see how tonight's cycle goes before making a decision on size of dose. ;)

Hi yes?

Yes, I can test him before I feed him @ +8. But no sense in testing @ +10 because he will have just eaten @ +8. But it's good to know WWWD! ;):) But right now, it's 30 mins to PMPS test so I'll do a +8 tomorrow before he eats his dinner.

Since that's the case, would Wendy wait another two cycles (well, three, counting tonight) before making a decision on the size of dose?

It would/could look like this:
1. PMPS tonight. Test. Feed. Shoot. Test (before bed) + snack. (I could test him at +10 tomorrow morning, though). And, then decide...
2. OR, If no increase tomorrow morning @ AMPS, then test at +10 tomorrow before dinner. Record. Decide. How does that sound?
3. PMPS: check earlier @ +10 in to see WWWD re: dose. Test. Feed. Shoot.
4. Carry on.

How does that sound?

Also, he's been in the red pretty consistently. It seems that going to 15u might be a way of recalibrating where we left off with Lantus (16u).

Eddie is so odd. I can see the yellow-green in his eyes which tell me he's high numbers but tonight he was so sweet sitting in the bay window behind a plant. I turned around and could see him looking at me intently with one eye through the plant. It was really something. He then came onto the couch and put his paws in my lap and sat there purring, letting me stroke him.

This sounds normal, right? But it's not for Eddie, not since the had the surgery and there was a number of problems, one of which probably injured his hypothalamus making him react whenever he's approached too fast. He hisses. Contrary to who he once was, he usually won't tolerate being touched. He hisses and growls, although he would never strike out. It's been hard because I want to comfort him but it often just makes him growly. When he comes to sit on me, it brings tears to eyes, especially when he's purring.

Anyway, that's the story for the night. I could increase in the morning. I'm here for almost the whole day, working from home. WWWD?

I'd still try getting some tests then. Most people feed main meals after PS, and still get as +2.

Are you home the next couple days? Not always action on the first day.

Interesting on the behaviour changes. Similar stories in this thread: Attention Lantus to Levemir Users!
OMG, thank you for sharing that Lantus to Levemir link!! I mean I didn't even write all what Eddie has been doing, the growling, the reactivity to the sting, the skin twitches, the avoidance of touch, even the gnarly response to being spoken to at times. I'm going to read it more thoroughly but it's uncannily similar!!! Like the issue with increasing and a dive and a slight increase and skyrocketing!

But particularly this: "Night-and-day difference! Not just in numbers, but also attitude. Mikey had a mild form of what I would call Lantus-induced hyperesthesia. He was temperamental, easily overstimulated, had skin ripples and twitches non-stop. He was highly irritable and quick to anger. He hated being touched, almost like it pained him to the point where I might be able to get a pet or two in before his ears flattened back in annoyance. He'd get vocal and meow at nothing while he'd snap at his sides and/or tail as if something were attacking him."

The author goes on to say that Mikey would lash out and scratch. Eddie's never done that but all the rest, for sure...

@Wendy&Neko Good morning, Eddie @ +10 443

Does this warrant 2u? I'm around for today with the exception of +6 to +7.5 (car servicing in anticipation re: Vancouver drive with Blue) and can be around all weekend for Eddie.

What do you think?

Update: have to shoot in about 30 mins...
