Not to be the drunk aunt at the party (I'm sober, I'm always like this) but I wanted to say a couple of things.

1. Ashamed to admit it but I'm not sure what "over the falls" means; I've searched for it and everything. :banghead:

2. If anyone feels discouraged by their cat's bad start or non-progress, I hope they will look at Ben's spreadsheet. His bgs were so high and stayed there for so long that I felt hopeless for him. It really did take patience before he suddenly hit that "switch" and started getting better.

3. TR rules. If I could do it over again I would have gone TR right away. I think it could have shortened the course of his active disease. Also given me my vacation instead of cancelling it, small potatoes but still.

4. Honestly, follow the instructions you're given. Resistance is futile!!

So as I understand it, being Off The Juice is also known as being on a honeymoon from insulin. As a well-known and traditional spot for honeymooners to vacation is Niagara Falls, NY, going off insulin became known on the FDMB as going to "The Falls."

So every OTJ video starts with "Welcome to the Falls, so-n-so!" with Niagara Falls in the background of the text.

at least, that is my recollection of the explanation given to me when I asked the very same question! I'm sure some of the long-time members will correct any inaccuracies within my response...if the answers are not lost in the annals of time. (such as why we call the daily threads condos. Nobody knows, far as I can tell haha)

That's why we call it the Falls. The daily thread being called a condo is because that is where you cat lives.

@carfurby I can't tell you how much I appreciate that answer and how much I love it. When I asked, it was speculated that it was possibly a typo of convo that stuck, or maybe the long threads with posts stacking on top of each other were like "cat condos"

of course. That's where the sugar kitties live, every day, in the condo. I am squealing with satisfaction, I love a good play on words!!

Love the video Camille, we all really appreciate the work you do making this such a great momento.

FYI The Official Lantus, Levemir & Biosimilars Slang Dictionary contains both condo and an explanation of the falls. The link to the dictionary is in the Sticky Note: The Basics: New to the Group? Start here! We once had a member go to Niagara Falls and post a picture of her cat there. :p
