Oscar’s first dose on lantus

Just started Oscar on lantus 1U twice a day. Well I could have used trifocals trying to see the one line mark on these new syringes. But I got the correct dose from the pen on the first try.

I will test him at the AMPS+6 . My question since this is a ‘depot’ shot and I don’t really understand what that means…… is it working as soon as he gets it or does a certain amount have to be in him before it released.

update: AMPS+6 was 326 which was higher than the AMPS of 308. Is this normal when changing from Prozinc to lantus?

A favour to ask, could you put a blank line in the spreadsheet after the last day of Prozinc, and label that line "start Lantus" or something like that. It's easier than scrolling over to the side to see the Remarks on some devices.

1.0 units was too low a dose to start with Lantus. We don't start over in dosing when switching from Prozinc to Lantus. We take into consideration the dosing of the previous insulin if it's not a depot insulin. You could easily go to 2.0 units tonight.

Also when posting on the Lantus board you would post like this for tomorrow
8-21 Oscar AMPS# and any other tests after such as +2 and so on
Then PMPS # and so on
Always link the previous days post to your new one
To add additional BG numbers look to the right you will see Thread Tools tap in that then tap on Edit Title add the additional tests then Save
