Does anyone think the snack at +7– ref in last link- influenced the numbers? he had his lowest PMPS after that. Just wondering if maybe I should try again this +7.

The late cycle snack is recommended for cats on a very low dose. Like 0.5U and below. The logic being that cats on such small doses have pancreas that are reasonably functional and produce insulin in response to food and that lowers the BG. For cats on higher doses, feeding after the nadir can reduce duration and result in higher preshots.

You could try it and see. Sometimes cats just stay green longer - through the cycle.

Right which is why I’m so confused as to why the snack LOWERED the PS. o_O

Maybe because it kept him surfing the 70s longer into the cycle and put off the usual low 100s PS into later in the PM cycle. But I really don’t have enough exp to know either way.

You don;'t know that it lowered the PS. He has had green PMPSes before. Even without the snack...I think? And he has green AMPSes without the snack as well.

Try feeding for a few cycles in the AM and see. ECID could work here as well! At least, you'll know whether the snack is lowering the PS or he just sometimes have cycles where he stays in green through and through.
 
PMPS 90

I did not try the snack at +7 today.

His 7-day average is 84
Can anyone tell me if it’s typical to see such a high average in addition to successful reductions? I am still struggling with how high his average has been and it makes me worry that this dose or the next step down won’t hold.

Was his average lower previously? Why do you worry that it is high? Some cats run at the higher end of the normal range and others are the lower. Green is green. His nadirs are in the low 70s. He is spending a lot of time in healing green. Do not worry. FD is unpredictable and some amount of up and down in dosing is par for the course.
