Ben had a good day. Squirrel too, since I finally gave up and began feeding her the same Weruva that Benny gets. She likes it better than the Fancy Feast she was gettiing. She has CKD so the high protein makes me nervous, but at least the Weruva has low phosphorous, and she will eat it, which is half the battle with her.

What stage CKD is Squirrel at? It used to be thought that a low protein diet is beneficial for cats with kidney disease but newer research shows that it's much more important to restrict phosphorus. That restricting protein at low levels of CKD just leads to muscle wasting. You start restricting protein only at later/end-stage CKD.

She's at Stage 3. Is that a point at which she should be getting restricted protein? She has had a lot of muscle wasting in the past few months.
