Ever since she transitioned to raw food diet her coat has been super silky, eating well gaining healthy weight people have told me she looks so much better. One thing I’m concerned about though is her raised blood sugar. It seems to fluctuate a lot during the day.. High BG itself isn’t an issue for me but her ketones raise up to 1.4 before 12 hours & SQ fluid can only do so much.

the brand of raw food I get has a bit carb in it which might be contributing to the increase bc the previous raw meat I bought actually lowered her bg. I’m going to try not to feed her 2 hours before the shot to double check!

I didn’t feed her 2-3 hours before the shot & she threw up bile : s I emailed the company of the brand of raw food about the carb content and they said it is less than %1 I should feed her every hour to prevent stomach acid build up. Seeing that her nadir had been +200 during the day & +120 in the evening I’m considering the dose increase by 0.25u after 6 cycles

Can the throwing up be related to her IBD? I don't have any experience with it. But feeding every hour is a bit much. Maybe feed every 3 hours and see?

You will not see nadirs in the range you want them to be in every cycle. In cycles where she is bouncing, numbers will be higher. Let us see what she does tonight and tomorrow on this dose.

You should not need to feed every hour. Some cats need a +9 so they don’t vomit at amps or pmps. I agree with Bhooma that every 3 hours is worth a try.

yes I was told she might have possible IBD when she did ultrasound last time but they couldn’t really give me a straight answer.. I am going to request GI Panel test as an alternative to biopsy at my next vet appointment to find out.

okay I’ll let you know! I’m going to give injection 15 minutes early tonight (so midnight to 23:40-50ish) I’ll update her PM shot here : )

She was eating raw food mixed with 5ml slippery elm to help with vomiting-I’ve heard from multiple cat owners this supplement raises blood sugar- at the time of testing I’m guessing this is the reason her bg is higher than usual? She also ate dry kibbles today. I don’t want to refrain her from eating food as she needs to gain weight and it seems like her bg is high anyway when she’s not eating for few hours. She was urinating a lot too this morning when I checked the litter. I will give 1u tomorrow AM and ask for dosing advice if her nadirs remain 200+
