I’m a :mad::mad::mad: dummy!!!
I drew Escas insulin tonight and my son started crying before I could use the calipers to get accurate dose. I came back out into the kitchen after I calmed my son down and just gave Esca the dose. I draw heavy to not have to reinsert the syringe - he definitely got at LEAST double his dose (at least 2 Units)!!!

WHAT CAN I DO IM PANICKING.

Can I give him some high carb food now to offset the low numbers?!
im shaking and I feel terrible!!!
 
Don’t panic. Let’s take it a step at a time. Don’t jump for hc. Give a little mc and get a +1. Post results I will watch for you. Do you have lots of supplies, Mc, hc, syrup and strips. You want to keep him hungry so don’t overfeed.
 
How much should I give at a time?

2 cans mc, 2 hc, giant bottle of Karo, and 100 strips in a fancy labeled “hypo kit” box!
I’m physically prepared for a hypo, but no where near mentally prepared for one!
 
He’s not going to have a symptomatic hypo. We will use food to prevent that. Just give a couple teaspoons of mc and I will see you at +1. Deep breaths. It will be okay.
 
Let him eat a little lc now and I will see you at +2. On your ss in the dosing I would put 1-2. In remarks write might have gotten double dose.

Now that I’ve calmed down a pinch and can focus in a bit, I measured with calipers to around where I usually draw back to. These syringe markings are so messed up that I have to measure each time - 1u looks like .25-.50u, depending on the syringe o_O
Where I *typically* pull back to is sitting right around 2u, so it looks like he did get roughly double tonight.

I have FF beef gravy lovers and special kitty turkey and cheese in gravy. SK isn’t on the list, but the list says FF is 20%.
However I was sent a calculator that says the ff is 14% and SK is 15%. Idk which one is right?

He got LC at PMPS, pulled that, fed a bit of the ff when Tiffmaxee popped on, then some LC again at +1

Got a tiny bit of gravy into him, but it appears we’ve hit a wall and he’s currently uninterested in his food.
 
Well not the best but it would be good if he will eat something. He’s staying flat with hc. Gravy maybe.? Tuna with honey? LC fine you.

We’re about +4.5, I believe.

I do need to get some sleep, I have work in 6 hours. But how should I proceed tonight? Wake up in 1-2 hours to check him again and leave out LC?

Additionally, how does this dose affect the shed? Do I continue business as usual if AMPS looks good or high? I imagine his numbers will be wonky the next few days.


Seriously grateful for you guys and this entire community. As much as I prepared mentally, it was all gone as soon as I realized what I’d done! Aside from 1 unkind person on the FB page, everyone is so helpful and helped me calm down and focus pretty quick!
 
Would be good if you can check him 2 hours after the last snack of FF 20% to ensure he doesn't dive after the carbs wear off.

You'd stay with 1U. Today's extra insulin may continue to affect the depot for another 3-4 cycles.
