Well here we go again. :banghead:
Just had a really nice smooth curve last night into the greens and hard bounce this morning back into the reds. I fed the curve as usual and no food after +6.

I know bouncing just happens until it stops happening but this just sucks. It’s the AM cycle I can’t seem to break, in fact he’s only ever had one AMPS under red since we started.

Since I’m breaking up his AM food into +0,1,2,3 aren’t I just feeding the bounce and keeping him high later into the cycle?has anyone ever had luck breaking up food during a bounce into half at +0, half at +1?
Maybe this would bring him lower if there is no food to interfere with onset at +2. I’m willing to try anything at this point. SS is updated, this morning is start of 7th cycle at 1.25. love to hear some thoughts on the matter, thanks.

I don't think changing the feeding will alter the numbers in a bounce. You can try. You can take a break from feeding evey hour and feed at say +2 and +4. The hourly feeding makes more sense when he starts the cycke lower and you want to keep him coasting.

Many cats go lower at night and bounce in the day. Probably has something to do with them being nocturnal creatures. Which is not to say that you cannot have active cycles in the day and bounces at night.

Good evening Bhooma :)
Do you think the 1.25 depot has kicked in yet?
I’m wondering how much longer I should hold this dose. The full 10 seems logical but I guess he’s not really new to <200 at this point.

Yes, the 1.25U has kicked in. He is new to nadirs under 100 though. From the TR sticky:
"when your cat starts to see nadirs under 100, hold the dose for at least 10 cycles before increasing."

I would wait to see where he lands after he clears the bounce to see if needs an increase or not :-)

Ok, here’s to hoping he won’t take another 7 cycles to clear this bounce. I just have to remind myself to be patient and trust the method. On the bright side he did get into the greens for the first time since day 1 so that’s good.
Do you normally see bounces stop happening when you finally hit that break through dose or is just random?

The bounces will last less and less time as he gets used to normal bg. I can’t say they will go away. Some cats bounce all the way to otj.

“”You can take a break from feeding evey hour and feed at say +2 and+4.””

did you mean +0, +2 and +4 or no food at shot time?

Always feed at shot time. Sometimes feeding after nadir can cut into duration. I used to base when I fed by when Max dropped. I’d feed at preshot. He would nadir between +2-+2.5 so if dropping I would feed then. Next test would be in either 1 or 2 hours depending on numbers. It’s good to experiment to see what works best for your cat.

“”Sometimes feeding after nadir can cut into duration”” can you elaborate on this? +5 is nadir for Abbott.

Duration being the time after peak when the bg starts to rise. It looks like his nadir right now is mid cycle so unless feeding the curve due to lower bg I would feed most of his food by +6. It looks like you aren’t feeding in the second half of the cycle now which is what I would continue to do. Feeding the curve early helps if you start to see big drops which can cause bounces just like lower bg than a cat has had in a long time.

Yes I know, I’m not feeding after 6. And I am feeding early in the active cycle. My post today mentioned a very smooth curve in the PM cycle, that’s not the issue. It’s the AM cycle or bounce cycle that I am trying to tweak
