Yesterday's condo

After last night's numbers I did not even think I would wake up to such a low BG. Fed 1.5 oz weruva 7% and 13% tested again in 30 min and numbers decreased with Both Free Style Lite and AT 20 points. I fed a little Hc 17% and stalled 15 min and reluctantly just did the full 5 units this AM but I am terrified. No libre either.

I am working from home and testing but just not mentally ready for another lime after 5 hrs of sleep. Any advice?

AMPS (6.30 am EST) = FSL =162, AT=250
Fed 7% and 13%
7 am - FSL =141, AT =222
7.15 AM ET = 5 units and fed tbsp 17%.

I don't know if I would have shot a full dose on a falling number like that - even though it's pretty flat with meter variance. I think I may have stalled. You know what to do. Get a +1 and +2 for starters. If he's determined to drop, you will know how to intervene with various carbs, etc.

Why did you get so little sleep last night? Seems like he was quite high enough for you to go to bed? Sorry if that's an idiotic question. I may have missed something.

Good to know for next time - how long should I have stalled? I did 15 min only. And what dose if still lower? I feel pretty stupid now but the deed is done.

His nadirs are now later around +6 or +7 so I could not go to sleep without getting a reading a +6 last night especially since the Libre is dead. Looks like he furthered dropped god knows when last night.

And what happened to the Libre. When I try the link above to see your previous condo, it won't work. The link seems broken. Anyway, what did he do to the Libre? Rip it off?

I'm not saying you did anything wrong. Just that I may have been too nervous to shoot until he rose a little bit... when this happens, you can stall a little longer 30 minutes... or as long as necessary (depending on your schedule of course because it will delay the PM shot time.) He had a late nadir for sure... his PMPS may have been the lowest point. You're extra nervous without the Libre. I get it.

Makes sense. I will stall longer next time and post for advice. Today was not my brightest decision let's say.

Not enough sleep! We probably would have just asked if you could stall a little longer... then say something like ... options are shoot full dose and monitor, shoot reduced dose, etc. I would hate to see a reduced dose anyway because you will be home and I think it will be better for him to have the full dose and hopefully get into better numbers.

Agree with you. Will reserve the reduced dose for the days when my meetings pile up and have to smile on video camera to people lol. I was hoping for more sleep today and uneventful. But he does like to keep me on my toes. He is like well I gave you a break last night how many breaks you want lol

AM +1 - FSL=156, AT =225 pretty flat given the HC earlier but glad he did not further drop. Should I feed a bit more since in 1 hour the next dose hits?

AM+2 - FSL =143 and AT =210 4 or 5 more hours still to nadir time. Time for higher carbs?
I would not give higher carbs at this time. I'd give some more of what you gave before. But you know him best. I would give some more of that and test at +3. He's doing great. If you test at +3 you should be able to head off any steep drops.

Gave him a little of the HC because I am freaking out. He is 17 pounds so he dives faster and it is hard to bring him up. I am still traumatized from the lime on 6/20 when we started at a much higher PMPS and fed MC and HC and still decided to dive low. And then he does not hold reductions well and keeps bouncing. I hope it is not a mistake. Paws crossed. Will test at +3 again. Ah, in days like these how much I miss the libre and scanning obsessively lol.

Yes. That Libre is good to see trends in what is going on. The Libre would probably be giving you a higher number now if it was functioning. It's all good. He's going to be fine.

Keep in mind that when you shoot lower preshots, they don't have as far to dive - you tend to get flatter cycles. I'm sure you've read that around here before.

I totally get that fear though! I really do! :bighug:

Good to know. May have read it somewhere but it's all a blur now (need more coffee lol). Still have soo much to learn. Thank you Suzanne. appreciate it. In time and with more experience I hope to grow bigger balls and freak out less lol

Well, Henry may prove your point here soon! I hope not. But he may want to make me look like a fool. LOL

Haha, nothing you do or say can make you look like a fool. Henry is super bouncy, not very predictable and does what he wants to do.

On another note, he does love the weather this morning in GA, no more scorching sun. He is relaxing on the balcony and could care less while I am shaking in my boots haha. I need to think more like a cat :) Be more relaxed:cat:

AM +3 FSL =96 and AT =166.

Huge drop even with the HC. I decided to grow a pair another time and fed a little syrup with the FF beef in gravy. I will test in 30 min. He surely loves to dive deep and fast.

Very safe numbers of course. Usually the advice is to save HC and Karo for 50 and below.
Tell me, on 6/20 did you have difficulty bringing him up with gravy/ syrup? It looks like he came back up.

Yes he did but we started at much higher PMPS and had the libre to tell me what is happening. I fed some MC that did not seem to help.

I understand your fear of low numbers but these are totally safe. Do you need to leave the house? If not it’s good to avoid hc and see what happens.
No, I am glued to Henry today not going anywhere. The problem is if I let him go under 50 so early before his nadir not sure how fast i can bring him up. This is a first for me. Plus he does not really hold reductions well. I fed syrup at +3 and gravy and still dived. I don't know what to say. I need more data before I can feel comfortable with his lower numbers.

AM +4 - FSL=82 and AT =134 I feel like I can breathe better now.
do you think you can just wait and not feed until the next test. You can do 30 minutes if you feel better about it.

Real shrimp? Georgia shrimp? I’m coming over.

ETA: if that’s part of his regular feeding schedule then I would keep to it.

Hahah, well Publix jumbo shrimp. It is his favorite dish. It does have a ton of calories though and he could lose some haha. I wish it was the fresh real kind. I will wait like you said 30 min and test again and see what we have and feed shrimp at that time. After all the gravy he can wait haha

The little bugger does not like any other type than the jumbo
What’s in that shrimp if it has lots of calories? It must be high carb as shrimp is super low cal.

Just regular steamed and frozen shrimp. Zero carb but has more fat. I think one shrimp has like 34 calories or something. Which adds up for a 17 pound kitty. One vet yelled at me and said no more shrimp. The other 2 vets did not care lol. Sorry vet #1 but Henry deserves to be spoiled once in a while :)

@4.5 FSL=102, AT =156;
Fed the shrimp. He smelled it a mile away and came running and meowing. Even after all that gravy nothing compares to that yummy shrimp. Shrimp in gravy next time I need to feed HC, LOL

I may have screwed up this morning with the HC but at least I have more data and feel more confident about bring up his numbers with gravy and syrup. Live and learn as they say. I will take another reading in an hour to see how he is doing.

Don’t forget the grits to go with the shrimp! Lol. well, we all do that- sometimes overreact. It is definitely a learning process.
