? Adams numbers was it a bounce ?

Not sure what happened last night but he went low (for him) probably one of the lowest numbers he had in over a year at 173 then his +2 was 180 and this morning he was at 342 again. He seems to like the FF food we switched from Aldi but even with snacks he still acts like he is starving, and he seemed better on the Aldi food but it's also higher carb. We are thining of switching to Friskies which he likes and is a bit easier to get in the stores but sometimes the flour gave him higher numbers when he was on Pro Zinc. He seems to be doing well otherwise. Still peeing a lot though. Seems happier. Just wondered if that was a bounce? I will try to check him again today, but he is a very shy boy, and we keep getting nasty storms and they scare him so we will see if I can do another test later. I am also going to push him time for his shots back because like I found out last night if he tests a wonky number I have to stay up and make sure he is ok which sucked at 12:30 am!

Not sure if it matters, but I believe you’re in the wrong forum if you’re using Prozinc. Saw another forum for that.

Not sure if that’s why you haven’t received a reply.?

I use Lantus, and if it works like Lantus yes, cats can bounce from new lower numbers, especially when they haven’t been used to them.

Your spreadsheet doesn’t have much data at this point, so it’s hard how to know he lowest point over multiple cycles.

Did you get any other tests while monitoring last night?

My cat doesn’t have nadir’s at the same time every cycle. I’ve learned every cat is different. Just take a look at my spreadsheet and you’ll see his bounces. The late nights are hard, or early am surprises. I got a big one this am.

Good luck!

We switched from Pro Zinc to Basaglar. No I didn't do more testing because it was 12:30 am I knew his numbers were going up and would continue to go up and I needed to sleep a few hours before my special needs son woke up. I can't always test him it just depends what's going on . I am trying to test him more. Hopefully the spreadsheet updated today . Not sure why uts showing we are using Pro Zinc still. I don't use the board much it's harder for me to use and takes longer to get a response it seems
Thank you for your help

Hello there. I was amused to hear about the air compressor scaring Adam. My girl loved the air compressor, at least when it was off. She used to hang around it. Something about the smell of the tires. :cat:

This morning was probably a bounce. I don't see many blues on the spreadsheet so he may be not used to them. Are you able to do a curve anytime soon? I think he needs a dose increase, but the curve would let us know for sure.

How often are you feeding him?

You just need to get the basics down so people understand what's going on and can give advice. I had a hard time at first with everything. It's normal.

If you knew he was going up, I understand not taking any more tests. Your spreadsheet only showed the test right after the shot. The 173 could have caused the bounce since he has not had those numbers yet.

That's normal until he starts getting used to the healthier numbers. Wait it out and see if he comes back down in a few cycles. As well as get some rest when you know he's rising.

You may want to take tests at different times then the previous days just to cover time frames in order to find typical drops and rises to look out for. That way if he starts dipping too fast you'll know where you may need to feed a snack to slow but not stop the drop.

Ohh Adam is scared of everything ! His brother is the opposite. Yes he has always stayed around 300s when he was on Pro Zinc. He did get very sick when I switched him to Basaglar to the point I had to use rescue food and Cerenia to get him to eat again. I am still working on switching his food. When he got so sick he decided he liked FF better then the Aldi he ate for 2 years so go figure. Chubs eats around every 4 to 5 hours . He has a timed feder for over night. I am going to work on getting his time set to an earlier time since 10 pm isnt working too well if he has a low number. He has been on Basaglar since 6/25/22 I was going to wait a few more days and see how he does since we switched food and insulin around the same time. The Aldi food is higher carbs then I though I think its 12 which isnt bad but not great either. otherwise he seems like he is doing better. He seems happier and started to play a little bit. I need to get him a new fuzzy ball he dosent like the blue one he likes purple so I have to find a purple one.. He is a bit spoiled.

Good suggestions. Chris also said to get his shot time back to an earlier time since if he drops low at 10 pm its going to be really late to stay up with Chubs. which is true. I dont sleep much as it is soo every moment counts lol
I changed the info on my profile so there wont be any confusion. I tried to add on his spreadsheet when we switched from ProZinc to Basaglar. I will try to do different test times also. Maybe this insulin works a little different when he will have his nadir. I want to hopefully do a curve in a few days it just depends how the weather is. When we switched the insulin was when we were having a tropical storm and he hates the storms . Then he wouldnt eat and I thought he was just scared till the next day when he still wouldnt eat and I had to give Cerenia and recovery food which thankfully worked. I have Sub Q fluids if I needed them but he was ok. so its been a eventful few days anyways and now trying to figure out hwo this new insulin works then he dropped low for him and I was like WTH. I know what to do if he hypoed but dealing with it at 1 am was not going to be a fun night for sure ! I have 26 years doing rescues and he is my first diabetic how crazy is that and we actually adopted him and his brother after I bottle fed them ...smh.. Well he is super cute though .

The fast drops are scary and checking them every 20 min etc is exhausting. My feeding schedule is 530 am/pm which is not the easiest every morning. Keeps from interrupting my work typically, and he would never let me feed him later than 530. He would drive me crazy. He still starts at 430 pm yelling for food quite often.

It's great that you have rescued so many! Boris was kind of a rescue cat. I got him when he was around 1 yr old.

Hope Adam is leveling out today and you got some rest!
