05/26 Merlin PMPS 22.2 (400), 15.1 (286)@+1, 11.1 (200) @+2, 10.2 (184),6.8 (122) @+3, 9.6(173) @+4

We Agreed this morning that I would put only the Libre readings into the spreadsheet, but note the contour readings in the notes. It’s been a giant hassle, but Ive kept up with that.
This is a hassle. But right now it seems increasingly important given the discrepancy between the two. 52 points in these numbers can alter decision making on how to intervene and how often to test. Thank you for doing it.

I'm not liking the discrepancy between the Contour and the Libre, hopefully one day Jill you will throw that Libre away lol.
It will throw us away when it suddenly quits. Only supposed to last 5 more days. It was invaluable during the 21 hour hell. Poor Merlin would have got Swiss cheese ears.

It will be good for us to make sure he will not drop without the food. I think his numbers will be similar. I am relying on that Contour number.

Good safe numbers Jill.
It looks like the Libre might have given you a dodgy reading last time.
How are you feeling tonight Jill, do you feel more at ease now with his new dose.

Still not sure how I’m feeling…I keep thinking about doing this all over again tomorrow morning and tomorrow night. Etc… I don’t know when I will feel at ease not to test every half hour. And not to feed him frequently. At least we haven’t needed the honey yet.

It will get easier i promise. It will all become second nature, when to feed, what to feed. You will just look at his numbers and automatically know what to do and if not as you know help is always at hand on here.

If he’s ok at 4:45, should I feed him a little and go to bed? Do you think I could rest at ease? I know the insulin will still be doing its work for seven more hours… Maybe I still set an alarm and test him every hour? If he starts dropping do you think someone would hear my call on here? I cant imagine doing the 10:15 shot having no sleep. Do you think we will have to do it all again like this?

I mean 3:45
yes. I think you will be able to go to bed. No food yet though until next test.

Jill, just so you know, the amount of testing you are doing tonight is not what you'll be doing typically going forward. It will get easier. :bighug: When a cat is over 100, you are fine going an hour between tests, even longer if he's rising. Once you learn Merlin's patterns on Lantus, you will be able to be more strategic about testing. It's early days yet, so all data is good data right now. It'll take a while to figure out how Merlin reacts to Lantus, though initial data shows he likes early drops which will mean more testing early on the cycle. TBD if that pattern stays true.

Ok. Thank you SOOOOO much, Suzanne. I guess Ill just be doing all this second half again twice tomorrow. I will stilll need guidance on when to feed. It’s unclear to me still. See you sometime tomorrow. xxxxx J and I

I’d like to feed him some. Will that effect his BG and cause any dropping?
You can feed him some of the same food he’s been eating if it makes you feel more comfortable. I understand.

Wendy is right about this not being the kind of testing and intervention that you will have to do every day after things get a little more settled. Remember, Tee and I mentioned this… that we were only doing this because of the overdose last week and because of his early drop this morning.
