Misty had a bad uti. Her urine looked like blood on Saturday. She had a convenia injection on Saturday about midday.

Her urine now looks clear, but hasn’t been retested. Not sure if that’s necessary.

her numbers remain a bit high. Should I wait a bit longer for the infection to clear or think about an increase?
@Bron and Sheba (GA) she doesn’t seem as keen on the broths and I’ve had a bit of trouble testing. The cold ears don’t help. I’m not sure if they’ve changed the broths or if she still feels a bit unwell. The supply of the broths seems to be ok for now, unlike the FF pates.

Poor Misty. I’m glad the UTI seems to be settling down. So it’s been 4 days since the convenia injection.
How are you managing with work and testing and the insulin etc. Maybe 5e UTI has put her off the broths….I hops she isn’t getting sick of them. Is she eating ok apart from that? I have noticed half the shelves are bare at the supermarket in the cat food aisles.
It does look as if she could do with a increase in dose as long as you can monitor it going forward.

I’m sure you are as sick of all this rain as I am.

thanks - yes, I am getting a bit sick of the rain.

Misty is eating okay for the most part. We’ve discovered a different whiskas variety which is only at independent grocers, so it’s a bit inconvenient, but she likes it (chicken). I tried her on a different FF variety, but it made her vomit. I’ve tried it a few times, but it clearly doesn’t agree with her. I need to stop trying!

I have to work one day a week in the office at the moment and I’ve been going on Tuesdays. If I increased her dose to 3.25u I could monitor her almost every day. I might try tomorrow.

Hi again. I don’t understand how misty was 14 pre shot this morning and then goes up to 17.1 at +6. Is she very susceptible to stress or something? I can’t think of anything stressful today except she wanted her lunch when I was on a call and she had to wait 20 mins. Is that enough to put her up a bit higher?

She did it the day before yesterday as well. She’s possibly still bouncing from the run of blues on the 8th. She does tend to bounce after dropping to blue or green BGs. See how she goes overnight. She might drop back down tomorrow. I doubt it’s from the stress of waiting for lunch.

Is Misty hard to medicate? Convenia is not a good choice for a UTI. Did your vet run a culture and sensitivity?

No culture and sensitivity done. It was midday on Saturday and I didn’t want to have to go to er vet which is a 45 min drive away. She’d have to be sedated to get a sample direct from the bladder. She’s had a lot of uti episodes in the past and she is ordinarily too hard to pill, so she’s always had convenia shot, but I’ve discovered I can hide a pill in cream cheese and she will have it. I discussed that with the vet, but she thought convenia the way to go. Maybe next time. Her last uti was last October.
