His dose is not at a point where a +9 snack would help and it might make things worse. We do suggest a +9 snack to people with cats on very tiny doses, 0.1 units, whose pancreas is clearly sputtering to life. Before then, food later in the cycle after nadir can shorten duration and give you higher preshots. The analogy I've heard is after nadir the insulin effect is like a car rolling towards a stop sign without the gas on. It's a slow decrease is speed. If you add carbs at that point, it's like tapping on the brakes and slowing and stopping the car (insulin effect) prematurely. A +6 snack might be better, or maybe rotating the feeder to an empty cycle earlier than +10. Whatever you do, do one at a time for a while. Food changes can take a while to show results.
