We are on our 2nd cycle of Basaglar this morning.

Well, it doesn’t sound like it’s molecularly identical for Hendrick. I didn’t peek yet, but did you do a reduced dose when switching to the Basaglar?

no we didn't reduce just because we were switching to a biosimilar should we have? I did a bunch of checking and asking about switching, got a lot of replies but nothing about a reduction. The consensus was to go ahead, it's just insulin glargine, same as Lantus, shouldn't be much of a blip on the switch if anything at all.

Not necessarily, I would have probably said the same thing... it's glargine, right so why reduce? Hindsight is 20/20... and besides, lets see where he goes from here. Who knows, Hendrick may be the case study for us to say that "whenever switching to a different brand of insulin, even if it's considered to be the same as the previous insulin, do a reduction out of an abundance of caution." Let's see what happens. Hendrick has you at the helm and we know he will be safe.

Ah ok thanks for the explanation. We've still got half a pen of Lantus so if there is the slightest indication that the switch is impacting Hendrick negatively, we will go back to the Lantus and shelve this Basaglar endeavor

I haven't been reading all your posts so I missed the intended move to Basaglar. just for my education what precipitated the move? Glad to see Hendricks continue to go down in dose and BG!!!

Lantus was backordered 6-8 weeks at Marks Marine and the guy on the phone suggested it, saying it was the same insulin, no difference, and a little cheaper even. So I didn't really think much about it tbh. I'm very familiar with getting generic meds instead of the brand name so it seemed like it made sense.
