I don’t understand why Misty went so high so fast yesterday. She’s been on 3.25u for 20 cycles, but isn’t stable. I was so pleased when she was stable in the yellow when she was on 3u.

I wish I could say her eating has been consistent. She didn’t eat much yesterday, but I thought that was because her BG was in the normal range so she wasn’t needing to eat every few hours. Then her numbers shot up high. I did give her kangaroo mince (human grade), but that is all that was different. She’s mildly anaemic and the vet said to try some red meat. It was 100% meat.
I am leaving her with my mum in 24 hrs and she can’t test, but I’m worried she will go low, even if I drop her dose to 3u.

She is bouncing from the green yesterday. How long will she be with your mum? If she won’t be testing you need a vacation dose. We usually suggest starting a vacation dose a few days before you leave. I’d drop the dose to 2.0 for safety but see what others think.

Thank you. My mum won’t be testing, but she’ll only be giving her 2 doses. I’m only going away overnight (for only the second time since she was diagnosed 2.5yrs ago).

I agree she is bouncing and the 3.25 units is a good dose for her. She just has to get used to the green numbers. Until then she will keep bouncing. Try not to worry about it. It’s very common.
If you are worried she won’t eat well with your mum you can drop the dose to 2 units but try and leave food she will eat even if it’s not diabetic suitable as we don’t want to reduce the dose and not have her eating. Sticking with either 2 unit or 3 unit will make it easier for your mother to give the correct dose.
