I feed him about 7 am, by 11:00 am he is already asking for another can of wet food so I leave it out for him and then head to work. I am pretty sure he finishes it well before 5pm. By the time I get home he is yelling at me for food again. I take his blood first and feed him again at about 7pm. Yes I can do a 10:30pm blood check. That would be a +3.
That's good getting a +3 is good during the week , he's a hungry boy :p
On the weekends like I said bigger meal at AM and PM shots then smaller meals say @+3 and @+5 for both cycles,, like 2 tablespoons
You have another kitty

With Lantus, you hold the initial dose for 5 to 7 days to let the depot fill unless the BG drops under 90 if doing SLGS method
Can you add SLGS to your signature and SS so we know so members don't have to keep asking you.

Did you read my posts # 40, 45 and 47. The numbers are on the right hand side
Just wanted to be sure you saw them , just hit like when you do
Might have you start to post on the lantus forum, there are a lot of lantus users there and a lot more eyes in it.
I'll talk to you about it tomorrow ,we post a little different in there, don't worry it's not hard at all.
It's 4:15 AM by me now , probably 1:15 AM by you so I'll talk to you tomorrow , Go to bed :p
Good night :cat:
Is that Poppy next to Buddy, Buddy is adorable I just want to kiss that nose lol ,I'm sure Poppy is too, she looks like she has the sweetest face.

I read here that
You can poach, roast, broil or grill chicken as a treat , It really doesn't matter. Just don't season it.

Would you like me to tag some experienced members about the turkey bacon and Parmesan chips?
I don't think the turkey bacon would be good because the bacon may have a lot of salt in it
I see that some members gave turkey breast lunch meat as long as it was not seasoned
You might be able to freeze the chicken pieces and then take them out to defrost them
I never heard of Parmesan chips, what do them come in a package at the grocery stores?

I see on your spreadsheet it days feeding Buddy 3 times a day
Most of us feed the bigger meal at AMPS and at PMPS then 2-3 smaller meals during each 12 hour cycle, it's easier on the pancreas. Try not to feed after +6 , unless you need to bring his BG up
Do you have a hypo kit also?
@PattyandBuddy

Thank you! Read this all. No need to tag any members. I agree the turkey bacon seems salty. I will try the turkey breast lunch meat, I think he will love that!

Parmesan chips...you shred some parmesan cheese and then melt it...it comes out like a chip once cool and is delicious! haha
I think like the bacon it would be too salty.

Yes I have a syringe and kyro syrup ready!

Kyle is absolutely correct about keeping the pens in the fridge even the one you are using
5 pens will last for a year or more

Yes I saw them! Thank you for chatting with me! Im gonna print out your instructions how to test him this weekend. It is hard to remember and I have to re read. I have the Kyro syrup but no high carb food for emergencies, I will run to petco tomorrow and get that! Yes Poppy is the black cat on top of Buddy. She's much bigger now. That was her as a baby. TTYL Goodnight :)

Is 3 oz of can food in the am and pm ok? Right now I am also giving him 3 oz at 11:30am. I will just give him 2 tablespoons when I leave to work each day. He is going to have a fit. lol!!! When Buddy complains I am going to say...."take it up with Tyler's Mom!" :D

No I would give him the whole can when you leave, I only meant that when you are home on the weekends so you can space the meals out
Too funny take it up with Tyler's Mom
How much does he weigh
@PattyandBuddy
Doesn't Poppy eat his food

Buddy weighs about 14 pounds. Poppy rarely eats his food. Poppy usually only wants to eat twice a day. When I feed them in am and pm I keep them separate.

If 14 pounds is a good weight for him ? I'd feed him the 3 cans
They say to see how many calories to feed
The rule of thumb is about 20 calories per pound of ideal weight.

20x14 lbs =280 calories
I know FF pates are 99 calorie a can so 300 calories is ok

14 pounds is not a good weight for him according to the Dr. The Dr. said he is still overweight.
she also said to give Buddy 5ml of Kyro syrup at 80 and to call the emergency vet.

Morning Patty, so what did he say should he weigh, once his BG is regulated he might not be that hungry, maybe leave him 3/4 of a can while your at work
Do you add some water to his food to maybe fill him up more.
That's what I was told when I first joined . Mush it up real good

Morning :) The Dr. didn't give me an ideal weight. she will be back to work on Monday so I will ask her then! she said she is going to also review his numbers i send her on monday. I will add more water to his food, i think he enjoys that anyway :)

So bad news. i just gave buddy his shot not long ago. .... i saw the shot go into his skin. when i pressed the plunger the insulin came out into my hand. i think the needle came out a side somewhere. his fur was also wet. so disappointed

I think you should start posting on the lantus board this morning
I'll give you the link at the end of this
OK you will start your title like this
3-26-22 then Buddy, then AMPS-405 ,then any test after that, to go back and add them look to the right you will see it says Thread Tools, tap in that ,then tap on Edit Title and add the tests such as +2 and the BG number ,then tap on Save Changes
Then you go back at night and just put PMPS- the number and any after that
You can add the other tests later in the day if you want to
I really think it's best to post today ,many lantus users there ,like I said more eyes in that board.
Where you would start to write something about Benny you would always link the previous days post to the new one in case members want to go back and read something. So you would link this post to the one on the lantus
The link is all the way up top above where the pic of the cat is , in the long box ,just copy it and then paste it to today's.
Then start writing something like this Hi I'm Patty and my cats name is Benny
I was posting on the Main Forum before
Continue to write whatever you want to

So it's a new post everyday .The members there are very nice and helpful, you will get to know them.
In case you ever need help ASAP such as if his BG is too low and you don't know if you should shoot just put NEED HELP ,Date ,Benny and whatever you need help with

You didn't add SLGS to your signature yet.

Crap, Don't ever give him another shot!
Some could have gone in. On your SS in the units put 1 and then fur shot
When you post on the lantus board today after AMPS and the 405 put Fur Shot
and you can explain what happened where you would start to write

If you are going to post now on the lantus board I'll check it out to see if its correct
Here is the lantus link

Great, Thank you! I will try to do this with his evening cycle tonight. I will have to start with 3-26-22 PMPS since I did the disaster fur shot.

whoops, i just added slgs to my signature. i had put it on my excel sheet only. a bit tired
You added SLGS correctly to both places
Yes lantus smells like a band aid
I hope it wasn't happening a lot
I always used the tent method, I see you didn't like that way
I would really lift the scruff up high and feel with my finger for the indentation and then shoot, I never tried the room method

If you have more success with the roll method than stuck with it, I just always preferred the scruff.

Going to run to the bank and a few errands , I'll check back when I get home and check out the lantus board :cat:

lol I don't think that at all! You are extremally helpful. I can tell you really care for Buddy. Thank you!

hey I know this one because it was one of the very first questions I asked here myself, a couple months ago. :D

Everyone keeps the pens in the fridge, and people have used every last drop of insulin, way beyond the 28 days, with careful handling and refrigeration of the pen. That is what I was told so that's what we've been doing for months now.

Sorry to hear he is not taking to the freeze-dried. Our cats did not either -- at first. It took some time but then it was like someone flipped a switch and now they go nuts for them more than they ever did for temptations. I can't explain it.
@Hendrick's mom and dad
Wanted to give you an update on those freeze dried treats you suggested. After a week Buddy now loves them. You are absolutely right...someone switched the switch on. :cat::cat::joyful::joyful:

that is so great to hear. Glad he finally caught on!! It's weird how it takes some time but hey, at least it worked out.

I need to buy those locally though and stop ordering them from Chewy, where half the bag turns to that white powder by the time you get it :(
