I've given up trying to figure out why Ruby's doing so well and am learning to enjoy it. I've been home more than usual in the last few days and she's been real snuggly and purry. It's so cold outside that the kitties have squished themselves into the heated cat bed.

I love Susan Thixton's list! There are some great food companies out there. Sadly though, very few commercially prepared raw foods are good for CKD kitties because they usually grind bone into them like Savage Cat. It's a great thing to feed if you have a young, growing cat. You've actually reminded me, Joey, that Lotus makes raw food for cats with egg shell calcium instead of bone, and they have a venison recipe, but it would cost me nearly $300 a month to feed both cats so it's not an option for me. I don't remember if Lotus is on Susan's list anymore. It once was.Not to further hijack, but Savage raw rabbit is on Susan Thixton’s list and they send a good amount of sample pouches to the stores that carry them. You could try it out risk-free. Not sure on the phos amount, but IIRC rabbit is lower than red meat, but higher than poultry?
