Missy's spreadsheet

Hi looking at your spreadsheet it looks like you are really not following TR correctly
You are changing the dose to often , lantus is based on how low Missy is dropping not what her pre shots are.
On 2-16 -22 Missy dropped to 47 during the day cycle.
That night you should have shot 0.75
I see this was told to do on a previous post

I'm going to tag a few members to take a look at your spreadsheet
Also you might want to start posting on the lantus forum
We do a new post everyday on the lantus forum
Date, Missy then her AMPS # and any other tests after that, then you can add PMPS # and so on
Also you would link the previous days post to the new one
To go in and add more tests that you have done after AMPS to the right you will see it says Thread Tools tap that, then tap Edit Title add the tests and hit Save Changes

I wasn't sure what I was doing in the beginning of the spreadsheet days, but I know then I wasn't following any protocols and I asked for advice here. Also I asked for advice few days ago and I was told to go to 0.50 units.

Looking at the SS my first comment is there are no tests in the pm cycle for the past few weeks.
It is really important that you get at least one test in during the pm cycle, even if it is a before bed test. And if that test is lower than the preshot BG you need to set the alarm and get up and test again later to see if the BG has dropped too low.

Can you write TR in the SS please at the top if that is what you are following..?
You are not taking reductions when you should and are taking them when they haven’t been earned. Not sure who is advising you but it is not the correct advice…….. I’ve looked back on your posts and can’t see where you got that advice. Are you sure you didn’t get it on another site.?
You need to get some tests in during the PM cycle for a few days before we can advise on the dose.

I would encourage you to post every day for advice on the Lantus forum where people will get to know Missy and can help you

Oh alright, I've been getting advice mainly from here and also feline diabetes groups from facebook. Right now I am saving the strips I have left for morning and evening only, because I'm waiting for more strips to come and it takes few days. And when you say PM cycle do you mean after evening insulin shot? Like take a test before bed? Or during the night? He used to get high numbers in the morning I'm guessing because of a bounce. Now he has lower numbers in the morning but a little high sometimes in the evenings.

Some of the Facebook diabetic groups do not give good advice.

The alphatrak meter strips are not easy to come by. Have you thought about getting a human meter? They are much cheaper to run as the test strips are much cheaper and if you run out they are much easier to get hold of.

The pm cycle starts after the evening dose of insulin. Yes, take a test before bed. If that test is lower than the pre shot you might need to set the alarm and check again during the night to see the BG hasn’t gone too low.

Hi, just wanted to chime in and say Welcome to the group! This is all pretty new to me as well -- and I was also using the AlphaTrak at one point but switched to a human meter AND I LOVE IT. Strips are soooooooo much cheaper and easy to get, the meter we use the strips are $10 for 50.

I'm so used to the alphatrak and I count on the numbers I see there and I have no idea how to understand the numbers I'll get on a human meter since I think human meter shows the glucose lower than it really is?

there is not much difference. A 68 on an AlphaTrak is about the same as a 50 on a human meter. Alpha Trak numbers just run a little higher -- when we made the switch it was no big deal at all.
