I could do TR since he has the freestyle Libra installed. Does the air dried ziwi peak count as not dry food?
Yes you can do TR , it doesn't count as dry food

What LC wet are you feeding most of us feed Fancy Feast Classic Pate or Friskies pate, limit fish flavors to one a week. Do you have med and high carb foods in case you need to bring Brady's numbers up such as
For your hypo kit
For your hypo kit you want some
Med and High Carb food and some honey

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Gourmet Beef Feast in Gravy 20% High Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Gourmet Chicken Feast in Gravy 15% Med Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Turkey Feast in Gravy 15% Med Carbs

Fancy Feast Gravy Lovers Chicken and Beef in Gravy 15% Med Carbs

Good idea to mark the cans with magic marker how many carbs

Or any on the food chart.

I feed 1 pouch of wurva B.f.f turkey and chicken and 1 carton of tiki cat compliments chicken and chicken broth plus 21 grams of ziwi peak all mixed up together. I have honey and maple syrup but I don't have any high carb wet food so I'll have to get some.

What time do you shoot? The dose depends on the method you choose and how low the BG gets on a given dose

Once I know which method I will suggest dose.

If TR let’s try .50 since you did see green there. It might have been influenced by the 1.0 but we don’t know. If it’s too little we. An go up in 3 days. If .25 you hold the .25 for 7 days from the drop under 90.

I'll tag her now to see if she definitely is going to follow TR
@Sara K
Sara are you definitely going to follow TR if so can you add it to your signature and SS

Freeze dried is not dry food. Make sure you rehydrate it. I think Ziwi makes canned as well.
What time zone? It’s good you will be able to see the BG the first few hours at night. You might want to get an auto feeder to set at night for later in the cycle if the before bed test is low and if you work away from home.

You are never a pain. I was watching a basketball game and fed my cats. I’m not getting responses or tags from other earlier posts but am getting yours. Nice time for me to eat. I’ll check back. Do you know where she lives?

Thanks Elise ,I'll ask her where she lives ,dumb me forgot about the time zones
When I hear something I'll tag you, enjoy the game :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm Pacific time zone. I have two other cats so auto feeder is tough to do.

Oh cool so I would do that in the morning too? Also I would take that out of the meal I mix together for the day right?
Yes add some water to every meal, what do you mean take that out of the meal you mix together for the day
I think I know what you mean now, if he has a little bit left over from his morning meal ,yes then give the rest to him as his snack around +2 or +3.
If he eats it all then just then just give him a snack , you don't have to save some of the food from his morning meal

So just so I'm understanding, how often do I have to test with TR?
I'd you see what Elise said in post #41
Here it is
TR as long as you can get an amps/pmps and at least one other test each cycle. When the bg is low you will need more tests. You will also need occasional test to find out how low a dose takes Brady. You test enough for TR.
With TR reductions are taken under 50.

I mix together his meal of 1 pouch of bff turkey and chicken, tiki cat compliments chicken and chicken broth and 21 grams of ziwi peak in the morning and split it up into two meals for morning and night. He struggles to eat it all so I was wondering if I could use a couple tablespoons of it for the snacks.

Oh ok yeah that makes sense. I test like 15 times a day. Lol... I'm a little obsessed with knowing his glucose numbers.

Should she still go with .50 tonight?

Ok I will do .50 tonight. How much of his food does he have to eat in order to get the insulin? Most the time he can finish most of it but sometimes like this morning he only eats like half of it.

It depends. Since Lantus onsets around +2, if the +2 is lower than the pmps, it’s likely to be an active cycle. If higher it’s not necessary. Will you be shooting at 8 tonight? Post the pmps and let’s see it

I would usually feed Tyler a half a can of Fancy Feast Pate , can is 3 ounces or a little more.
Lantus usually doesn't kick in until around +2 so as long as you know he'll eat by then it's fine.
Do you have the syringes with the half unit markings

I did, but I ran out and couldn't find more of them in town. I ordered more half marked syringes off chewy they'll be here Wednesday.

I'm a bit late tonight, but he'll be eating soon and usually he takes like 30 minutes to eat so I'll give his shot after that.

PMPS is bg before eating dinner. We suggest you test, feed, shoot all within 5-10 minutes. Waiting 30 minutes is too long. You test before they eat. You feed just to see that they will eat. Then you shoot. You can even shoot while he’s eating.

Oh that's right. Sorry all the abbreviations are confusing me a bit. It takes him so long because usually I have to sit and beg him to eat all this food. It's pretty awful. I'm not sure what to do about it. Btw, he's eating right now and his blood sugar before eating was 240.

He's 21 pounds and his doctor said to feed him 280 calories so it takes a lot of food to get to 280.

It will be much easier if you sure add out the meals rather than try to get him to eat it all in two meals. It will also level out his bg.

You can shoot now.
Oh ya definitely! The doctor kept telling me he can only have two meals no snacks so that's what I've been trying to do and it's really rough to get a cat to eat only two meals a day. Brady loves to eat too, but it's so much food at once. I'm going to try giving him a tablespoon and a half as a snack just like you guys were saying. I can't wait to get my syringes with the half marker because not having a half marker makes me question myself pretty bad. I gave the .5 unit shot.

What the hell is going on with these tags members not getting them

He's a big kitty :p
The rule of thumb is about 20 calories per pound of ideal weight.
Is Brady overweight? So if you vet said to feed 280 calories he probably wants him down to around 14 lbs because
20x14=280 calories

Yup he is overweight, but also pretty big boned for a cat. Doctor said she was aiming for 18 pounds and to give him 280 calories.

Sara Elise gave you the link on how to post on the lantus forum
Read it but I'll just give you an example just in case
We do a new post every day like this
Example
The Date, then Brady, then AMPS # then any other tests you do after that
Continue with PMPS # and any other test you want to add to it

After you post on the lantus board you will link this post to it , the previous post is all the way up top above the picture of the cat in that long box , do you see it, it starts with https://www.feline diabetes.com
You just copy and paste it to tomorrows condo or thread meaning your post
Do this everyday in case a member wants to go back and look at it.
I'll check in tomorrow to see how you did it
