Well....on day 2 of the Mirataz and she's eating a bit more but she's super agitated and is meowy. So, I don't think that she feels any better but she's just a hungrier. I just don't know what to do next. The Vet recommends an ultra sound but I really don't think I want to put her through more tests, more meds etc....
She's tired and shes frail and I don't want to cause her any more stress.

That's your call, Jill. If they do an ultrasound, which is non-invasive, and find something that is treatable (like IBD which can be treated with diet and steroids ... yes, I said the S-word! don't be afraid of it.... and these things can get the cat feeling MUCH MUCH better). The other thing is that they find nothing, and she's had to have the ultrasound for no reason at all. Or they find something else less easily treated, and you decide to do nothing at this point. Those seem like the three things that can happen if you do the ultrasound. I know she gets really stressed out by vet visits though. Like I said, it's your call. I'd probably do the ultrasound, mostly because I would want to know if there was anything else, within reason, that I could do to help improve my cat's quality of life. I would not do any invasive testing on Jill at this point either. Hugs to you. I would try the Mirataz every OTHER day and not every day (worked for us many times). By the way, don't discount the "hungrier" thing as being bad. A lot of times cats who haven't been eating much will just start to feel better because they're eating more. Give it some time -- and maybe switch to EOD dosing and see if that works. Or do a smaller dose.

Thanks for that. If she seems to rally a bit on the new med and I feel like she’s up to it, I may get an Ultrasound. But, she needs to be drugged for it ( for her stress) and I just don’t feel good about that in my gut or in my heart.

Time will tell. The Vet is convinced that she’s not in any pain.

A little Gabapentin? She takes a long time to clear that out of her system. I bet the vet has something better. They have gasses they can give cats that they wake up on almost as soon as they take the gas away from their face. But they’d have to decide what was the safest thing. Your call and you know her best and how she’s doing. I hope she will be happy right now and will continue to eat and improve.
