3/12 jade amps 275

I didn’t see this condo yesterday! I’ve been thinking about you and Jade. Is she doing any better? Eating? Activity level? Sleeping comfortably? Purring? Is she lethargic? How is she overall? I’m sooooo hoping for a glimmer of hope and some good news!

Good morning! She had a better day yesterday and a nice start to today. Dare I say the new meds are working…. paws crossed!!

I just read yesterdays about kitty not eating enough and not wanting to syringe (force) feed. I treated Old Groovy cat for chronic renal failure 2 years til he passed at age 20. What I did for him was meat baby food in a spoon, I would cuddle him and put the spoon right in front of his mouth. Funny but he couldn't resist licking it. Gerber uses corn starch for a thickener. BEECH NUT only uses meat and meat broth made from only meat, Ben likes the beef, Groovy liked the turkey. HTH

Aww I'm sorry Jade isn't feeling well. Panzer is slowly making a come back of course he has to have fortiflora or parmesan cheese on almost every feeding but at least he's eating. I hope she feels better & you get some answers hugs & prayers to the both of you!:bighug:

The Parmesan cheese cracks me up! I’m happy to hear he’s doing better. I have hopes for Jade but my gut tells me she’s not going to rebound. She’s tired. She’s really tired.

Hi! Vet just left and the good news is that Jade hasn’t lost any more weight in the last 10 days. I will start her new med for her appetite this evening. Doc says it should kick in pretty quickly. Hopefully, no side effects. If this doesn’t do the trick, I’m not sure what we will do. I won’t put her through the stress of a bunch of office visits, poking and prodding or surgery. I know in my heart that she’s not strong enough for it. I really appreciate all the love you’ve been sending!

Excellent news about no more weight loss! Come on Jade! Rally for your mama! What kind of appetite stimulant did she give you? Mirataz for the ear?

In case it is Mirataz or even Mirtazapine pills….. here’s what I wrote to another member about it just yesterday evening (copied from that post):

….One thing to remember when using the Mirataz is to start slowly! Do not give her the full dose (length of the strip shown on the box). A lot of cats get really hyper and some even get aggressive (one of mine did) on the full dose. Many cats will get restless and meowy on the full dose. Mouse has already been meowing like crazy at times so that’s the last thing that you need! I would start with half or less of the amount recommended. I used to give about a half every other day (not every day) andthat did the job.

That's the one (ear) and YES! She has already gotten meowy and is eating A LOT. Vet says a full dose once a day but I may follow your advice and give a bit less. I don't want her to feel anything but GOOD. she's not much of a talker but even in the last 12 hours, she has gotten pretty chatty.

You can just kind of play with it to see what dose will get her eating a good amount, without making her too crazy. For now, I'm glad she's eating! That makes me happy.
