Please advise!

We're day 8 since FD diagnosis. Original prescription was 1.0U caninsulin. Reduced to 0.75U two nights ago and to 0.25U last night. No shots yesterday morning or this morning.

Early this morning when I got home, Crisp's reading was 70 which was +10 from that bedtime 0.25U shot Very alarming.

Today:
AMPS 81 - No Shot
101+2
102+4
133+6
134+8
115+10.5

I had to leave unexpectedly last night and have to work again tonight so can't get post shot readings at important times.

My intention is to NOT give a shot tonight, regardless of his PMPS number. Well, unless it is crazy high.

I can take a BG curve tomorrow to see how Crisp responds to insulin if a shot is required in the AM. And more importantly intervene if necessary.

Does this make sense?

Thanks much!

Sorry no one got back to you, I see you didn't shoot tonight because you had to work ,better to be safe, one favor can you please do your signature so members don't have to keep asking you the same questions over and over again
I'll give you the link and then tag a few members that I see have helped you in the past
Can you please put the date in your titles also :cat:

Here is a link helping us to help you link. If you noticed, our members have some basic information about their cat's in their signature. This helps us to not pester you by asking the same questions (your cat's name, insulin type, date of diagnosis, etc.) repeatedly. We also have a link to our spreadsheet in our signature. We are very numbers driven. The spreadsheet is a record of your cat's progress. By linking it in your signature, we can follow along and provide feedback should you need the help.

That 81 means her Caninsulin dose is still too high. On the syringes you are using, can you do a 0.1 unit dose, or half of the 0.25 units? Just a hair showing above the zero line. Of course, that's presuming her preshot in the morning is high enough to shoot.

I edited my signature with the details. Though I already had a link to the spreadsheet. I see it when I'm not logged in. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

Thanks for your response.
That's what I figured but needed some confirmation.
I'm using the 1ml 0.30mm syringes for caninsulin. They don't have the mid unit markings. But I was pretty careful with a magnifier to zoom in and get the 0.25U dose.

Can someone take a look at Crisp's numbers in our spreadsheet? Assuming it's visible in my signature.
I think they look good and am hopeful Crisp can get off insulin soon?

PMPS was 141 NS and then 124+2

This morning Crisp was 118, he had a meal right after and then he was 107@+1. Lower after a meal is good or bad?

He's got his appetite back and woke me up for food this morning. My goal is to get him on a good low carb food that he likes instead of a buffet to coax him to eat enough. He loves to hang out under the bed after breakfast and the only thing I can coax him out with for testing is Felix Party Mix which I suspect is very bad for him. He has three to four of those a day because I am testing frequently.

We're living in a hotel in a foreign country in a new city. I'm struggling with the labels on food and treats and google translate can only get me so far. I replaced the Royal Canin Diabetic with the vet's prescription Animonda Integra Protect Diabetic. Crisp likes it (for now) but the only flavour was Salmon and I read about limiting the fish to once a week at most? And I found Whiskas Fricasse Jelly Chicken pouches and think fricassee is branding here for casserole. He's completely off kibble. The Felix Party Mix was from 'before'.

Thanks!

Thanks for confirming.
I don't know how to proceed from here.
I'm assuming that if the BG readings are still blue on the spreadsheet but lowish like Crisp's that I don't shoot anything?

Ideally we'd like a cat to be mostly under 100 before deciding he's ready to go completely without insulin. Let's give him a couple days doing as you are, not shooting if still low blues. Try to spread his meals out a bit throughout the day if you can. That's easier on a healing pancreas. Then we can see how he is in a couple days.

Got it. Thanks.
I am good to try a 0.1U if that is a better approach.

Thanks. I did use the UK food link. Problem is, the packaging is in Polish. So aside from Brand it's a bit difficult to be sure if I have the proper product.
