Vet trip this morning to meet a new vet, Hendrick approves of her

Of course, like most vets she said the goal is to get his BG in the low 200s or 100s. However, she is aware of this group and was very impressed by our home testing and aggressive approach. Said she's never seen anyone be so invested.

it is interesting that you would ask that because that is something we discussed with the vet, a cleaning. She said she sees some evidence of mild gingivitis but nothing serious, she suggested a cleaning down the road a bit after we get his diabetes regulated

For a diabetic it’s serious.
Gingivitis = inflammation, one of the 3 factors in the equation for ketone development.

In the presence of inflammation and or infection there will be no regulation. The source of any inflammation is what needs to be discovered and treated. You might consider locating veterinary dental specialist and having a consult.

Teeth and gums turned out to be the key to BKs going into remission.
