Micio's experiencing pretty flat numbers on the mid-low 100's in the last couple of days.
I did increase the dose to 6.25u this morning and since he's been hitting the green numbers: what's the lowest numbers I can safely shoot?
Also: since Micio hit the 6u insulin dose, I ended up adding the Acromegaly and IAA tests to the recent bloodwork (results are reported on his SS LABS section) and hopefully will be negative, just wanted to rule that out.
Micio's having his dental procedure this Friday and, if all goes well, his numbers should/may be dropping as the infection will go away. The specialty Dr./ surgeon told me not to feed after midnight the night before and not to give insulin the morning of procedure as they'll monitor that, but what do I do for the PM shot?
Thanks

Awesome cycle today!:D

Sorry for the late notice, just logged back on. I see you reduced tonight. Consider that an experiment to see what happens. I'd get a +1 and a +2 when shoot your lowest number yet. It'll help you figure out what might have happened had you shot, and provide good data when you are confronted with a green preshot again.

Great news on the upcoming dental, that can make a world of difference to some cats. If he has extractions or other major work, you can get inflammation plus infection that can in fact inflate the BG numbers for a week (ish) after the dental, so don't be disappointed if initially you don't see his numbers drop.

As for dosing, usually they are a little easier on diabetic cats for food. Did you talk to the vet directly? I used to get the standard (no food after midnight thing) until I asked the front desk or tech to talk to the vet and remind them she was diabetic. Then I got to feed a little bit and later. And I'd give 1/2 dose in the AM, but skipping is also Ok. As for the evening after, it will depend on a few things, such as work done, willingness to eat. Stock up on some all meat baby food unless he has a hard time eating with a sore mouth afterwards. Take his BG when he gets home, then again at PMPS time and use that data to see if you shoot shoot and how much. Some anaesthesia induction drugs lower the BG, some don't. Those two tests will help tell you if he's dropping. When he gets home, you can feed 1 tsp at a time, spread out 20 minutes. That'll also tell you if he's willing/able to eat. Neko's first dental I skipped per her vet and she was sky high the next AM and had no problem eating. After that the dental vet had me go with full dose, which I always did after that post anaesthesia.

I will call back again tomorrow and see if they can ask the doctor about giving a bit of food after midnight, they said only a little water was allowed

UPDATE: Micio had his dental surgery today, going to pick him up now. Teeth may have not been the whole issues with his swelling and bloody discharge, some abnormal tissue was found on his nasal cavity and biopsies was performed (we’ll know in 7-10 days…I’m fearing cancer though )
His last meal was last night at 11:30pm (they wanted me to stop feeding at 10pm), no insulin this morning and of course his numbers went to the roof (469@ 11 am) so they gave him 1u at 1pm (numbers dropped to 383@ +1 ).
I’ll test him as soon as we’ll be back home but it won’t be at normal PMPS time: do I give him full dose of 6.25u if he will eat and numbers still very high? Is it ok to give insulin at a later time that normal? How about tomorrow morning, test, feed and shot at regular schedule anyway?
Thanks
