Should I give Mikey his PMPS shot since he is so low. He started out the morning lower than usual. I was only able to get his BG at + 2 today due to life. Lol

Thanks,
Tom

Sorry no one got back to you in a timely fashion. I see you shot a reduced dose, and then he bounced. Looks like he could have used a higher dose tonight. Good data gathering.

Here's the link to your last post here, for continuity. Can you remind me or summarize what your dosing method is? I just see custom, which means it's hard to know how to help you. I'd know what to suggest for someone following SLGS or TR for dosing.

I started out doing the SLGH method but I seemed to stay on one dose too long. But I generally switch slowly. Probably time for increase. Someone in the group told me to put Custom.

I barely get responses anymore from this group. Pretty frustrating. I did not hear from anyone so I trusted my gut.
I did go to another FB group and they suggested a minimum dose

Sorry that you did not get responses on time. All of us here are volunteers and like you said, life gets in the way. We try and check in as often as possible.

We are aware of this other FB group and their love for "reseting" the dose. Rarely seen it work. What happens is the that the cat develops gluoce toxicity from getting too little insulin and staying in high numbers for too long and it takes longer and more insulin to get back to good numbers. If you test enough, you know how low your cat is going on a dose and there is no question of too much insulin looking like too little insulin.

Unless, they meant a token dose for tonight. Which is an option, but if you can get some tests, you can shoot a number over 90 with both protocols.

Would it be possible for you to test at +10 or +11 and post here? It's frustrating not getting a response, I understand that, but if you can post a few hours before shot time, then more eyes can get on your situation and help you out. Everytime you post when you need help, whoever tells you to shoot or not has to stay with you until we know your cat is safe. It's a big responsibility, and I for one am not on the board much at that time because of my work schedule. We're all volunteers here. :) I tried helping you on 12/29 (here is the thread) and you didn't respond. Not criticizing, but just letting you know that the more regularly you can post, the more we can become familiar with your cat's patterns and we can be of more help to you.

I was unsure how much to give him as I thought at such a low number the 3.5 might cause him to go too low. I do realize that you are all volunteers and appreciate your help, but it is frustrating when you wait for hours before a response. I didn’t want to readjust permanently as it was jus for the immediate shot

I was only inquiring about a token dose. Tomorrow I will go back to 3.5, or go a tad higher

This forum gets real busy, especially at your PMPS. I would keep adding new posts to your thread with something like "Can anyone help?" to keep it bumped to the top so that it will be the first thread on the forum list. That's how I kept eyes on my threads when I was starting out with Ruby. I posted in the morning with her AMPS, and added to the thread with every new test I took. That gets a lot of people looking at how your cat is doing through the day.

I will do that next time. Thanks

You do not want to increase his dose. It's possible that he went lower today and earned a reduction or if you had shot the full dose tonight, he would have earned one tonight. Stay with the 3.5U. He will be higher for a couple of days after tonight's token dose, but that does not mean he needs an increase.

To add to what Katherine has suggested, if you add "PLEASE HELP WITH THE SHOT" or something like that to the thread title, that will get you more eyes.

Will Do. I figured he would go real high tomorrow because I panicked. I am just not accustomed to lower numbers with Mikey! Thanks
