Hey everyone it’s Ziggy and me again I don’t know what to say… Ziggys spent all night in the ER last night and half the day today at his primary vet. The FIV is taking over he is literally bursting from the inside out. He’s had 3 ruptured abscesses in under a months time. My other cat isnt biting him I’ve been home with him off work completely since the pancreatitis attack two months ago. His recent blood work is why our IM thinks this… his WBC count dropped dramatically in just 5 days from 49.3 to 30.2 along with the lymphocytes and several other things im too distraught to remember right now. His pancreatitis isn’t getting better he’s leaking from his butt now which is why we went to the primary today.. I don’t know how long left I have with him. I have to give him so many medications and so many needles daily. I want to continue his insulin but he is on so many medications and needles I feel like all I do all day is hurt him for .1 units of insulin do I really need to prick his ear too? Help please I’m broken I haven’t slept right in days and I don’t know what to do anymore. This battle has raged and after this last rupture and his IM and primary telling me his FIV has actively progressed into full blown kitty aids I really just want him to enjoy this time he has to the best of his ability so suggestions please. As of right now when he’s on pain medication he’s still a happy boy he looks out the window he licks and fusses with his banana cat nip toy and he loves getting pets and cuddling. Please don’t suggest euthanizing I am in no way ready to throw in the towel just starting to accept that in this battle that raged we may not win this time.

I’m so sorry. With the numbers he has been giving you maybe just test at amps and pmps. Then only test again somewhere between +3-5. It looks like you are giving .25 and he’s at respectable levels. :bighug:

his schedule is as followed
5am - metro sometimes he takes the pill pocket sometimes I have to torture pilling him is torture

6am pain meds

7:45 Zofran for nausea and famadotine also torture

8:30 am Zenequin if he’ll take the pill pocket it’s not torture but it’s been less and less accepted these days

9:3O am insulin shot

12- clean all abscesses also torture

im hysterical crying and can’t even finish the schedule I feel like I’m losing him and in his final days all I do is torture if he makes it through the week and shows improvement I will definitely start BG pokes again but he is literally bursting from the inside out i feel like I can’t have another ear hematoma on top of this all is there anything I can do to not have to prick him for what very well could be his last days with me I’m so lost

Have you thought about giving medications in a blank gel cap? I found I could fit multiple meds in gel cap, so reduce the number of pilling sessions. Of course, that only works if the meds can be combined. A number 3, 4, or 5 gel cap work for cats. The larger the number the smaller the gel cap.

Elise has the right idea just a couple tests a day!

Big hugs to you sweetie you are dealing with a lot!:bighug::bighug:

It's ok to break down and have a bad day! Ziggy sounds like a pretty easy going sweet boy and he knows you love him even with all the pokes and meds!

Healing love coming your way! <3 <3

I have been in your shoes with my lymphoma kitty. I know how hard it is. I too combined with a gel capsules. Sometimes she would eat baby food after willingly. With I had to syringe feed I felt like you do. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
