Walter is scheduled for his shot at 4pm. He’s been at 600+ all day. It’s possible that the morning shot was a fur shot. Ketones are .03. Any suggestions?

Thanks—that’s what I thought but this number is awfully high. The ketone number is a blood reading using a meter. He’s behaving about the same as usual—I’ll check on the water again. Thanks again!I don't have a lot of experience with this but my understanding is we stick to the 12hrs apart and don't dose again if we think it is a furshot. Is the .03 ketones from a meter. Do you have urine strips.
Is he eating okay? Also make sure he is drinking plenty.
Thank you— makes sense.Yes it is so awful seeing those high numbers. He's had DKA so I am sure you know what to look for but I don't think it would come on with just one missed dose.

Thanks Carla! I hope you had a good Christmas. If you think it was a fur shot, you shouldn't give more insulin just in case some got in. I hope Walter comes down soon.![]()
I did. I hope you did too. Thanks Carla! I hope you had a good Christmas.
Thanks Wendy. I ended up shooting at +11 and he leveled off (if you can call 300 leveling) throughout the evening. He’s holding around 350 today and I guess is he’ll settle down this evening into lower numbers.Just to add, shooting early can be done with guidance from an experienced person. It is cat and situation dependent.
