I'm not sure I could be a foster, I'd be forever wondering did this cat go to the right home.
Maybe ten years ago this big guy showed up at our back door. He was obviously someone's cat but not chipped, no posters, nothing in the local paper, zero. I made the "mistake" of feeding him and one morning he was howling so I let him in. He just walked in, said hi to nine cats and a dog and parked himself on the sofa. Weeks went by until we got a call, "you have my cat". Some miserable woman showed up blabbering about how much she and the kids loved the cat. She loved him so much she went on vacation out of the country after he went missing. She went on about how he doesn't like men and hates being picked up so I picked him up, then flipped him over to rub his belly. "You mean like this?" That really annoyed her and when I quizzed her about how hard she was looking her big head turned red. We called him Bob and would have kept him but it wasn't up to me.
We're the last house before a schoolyard, then condos and crazy traffic. We've had 3 dogs and dozen cats just show up here, some of the owners were eternally grateful but some just didn't deserve their animal back. It's not a stuffed toy. Too bad you couldn't stay Bob.
