? 12/17 Max AMPS 285 +4 338 +7 385

Should I increase? He’s been back and forth on 9 and 9.5 with 9 being too much and 9.5 not enough? Should I try 9.25 tomorrow? I think he does have a little intestinal infection and also has had some problems with his asthma so I know that can increase his BG. What should I do, just wait it out and see if it’s a bounce or related to him feeling bad… or increase to 9.25 tomorrow? @Wendy&Neko @FrostD @tiffmaxee @Bandit's Mom

Sorry about the asthma attack yesterday. I hope Max is breathing better today. Good luck if you increase the dose. :bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thank you Carla. Yes, Max is breathing better. He has a little diarrhea now so I’m not sure what’s going on. I have some Flagyl here so I started him on that. I really hate to take him to the vet and he hates it too, so I’m trying that first to see if that will help. I don’t know if that’s what made his BG go up today or if it was from the asthma yesterday or even a bounce, but he’s way up there. Also I can’t really leave the house because my husband has covid now. When it rains it pours.

How about trying pumpkin and a probiotic for the diarrhea?

At his dose I am not sure a .25 increase would do much. It’s only been 5 doses at 9.0. See how he does tonight unless Wendy thinks otherwise.

Okay will do. I’m trying to find out the best probiotic to give him every day. I stopped the Fortiflora because of some of the ingredients I found were not good for cats. I’m not sure what probiotic is recommended here or where to get it. His vet just left me some Pro-pectalin to pick up. Thank you!

Pumpkin has helped Furball in the past with diarrhea. Sending prayers for your DH. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thanks Carla. Max isn’t crazy about pumpkin, but I’m going to try it again if he doesn’t improve. So far his diarrhea seems better so I don’t know what is going on. Thanks for the prayers!

Go ahead and finish the five day course of Flagyl since you already started it. It can be very helpful with diarrhea. I don’t know how long he’s had it though. First, I usually use BeneBac Plus gel which I order from Chewy or Amazon. That stuff works wonders sometimes. Then I will also add in if necessary some freeze dried pumpkin (Diggin’ Your Dog freeze dried pumpkin with apple pectin). If it’s a cat that will eat it (some of mine will not eat it mixed in food.). At the same time I usually use some probiotics like Proviable DC or Visbiome (both food). If he likes it though you can give a little Greek plain yogurt or Bulgarian yogurt. Full of cultures and lots of cats like them. - no lactose in there. I have also tried s. Boulardii that everyone raves about, but I honestly have tried it in several cats with little success. It seems to work only on specific types of diarrhea (i.e., caused by certain things.). I have used Flagyl many times with success when there’s been an unresponsive case of diarrhea in my kitties. I hope Max will be over it soon.
Oh, I am sorry about your husband having COVID. I hope he will clear it from his system soon!

Thanks so much for this Suzanne! I may see how he does with the Flagyl tonight and check out some of these other suggestions you’ve given me.:bighug:

I didn’t see that your husband has Covid. I hope it is mild. My vet told me with flagyl once I saw normal stool to stop it and not to be surprised if my cat skipped going after that for a day or two. You don’t want him constipated either.

Yes, he got it from someone at his job. It is mild though. I sure don’t want him constipated. We’ve had enough problems with that too. He hasn’t gone anymore today so I may just see how he is tomorrow. Thank you!

Big drop to +4, might warrant a later test. About time for that bounce to break.

In post SRT kitties, I'm never a rush to increase back up.
