hi, im not sure whats going on. i am 100% certain hes not getting any contraband. hes been confined to the house and there are no kibbles to be found. We've gone up to 1.5u and his BG is still super high. Higher than it was when he was at .5u! His water intake has decreased and hes not sharking for food all day anymore so i think he must be feeling better. hes more active as well. Any suggestions?

Is there any chance you could follow TR, even if just until you see better numbers? You could increase faster to get to the right dose.

With my schedule it won’t be possible until next week at best. And even then it will only be until after the new year. Increasing the dose doesn’t seem to be helping though.

Elise took the words from my mouth! He needs more insulin and TR would enable to him to get to his good dose faster. It's not good for him to stay at high numbers for so long.

Can you get a test every night before bed? In the mornings, do you leave soon after you give him his shot?

Not at the moment. He’s with my husband until I get back. I travel for work 10 days - 2 weeks at a time. Liam fights him for testing and he struggles to get even 2 tests done a day.

You could look into a Libre, but it is expensive and for some cats does not stay on the full 14 days.

Not really. Meter variance is 29%. He’s been high all along.
If there’s that much variance then how do you know what’s actually going on? Especially when they are getting low number? I’ve been using the same meter since I started.

All meters have an allowable 20% variance. When low they are the most accurate. Human meters read lower than pet meters. So that is why a reduction is taken at 50 on a human meter but 68 on a pet meter. Many cats in remission hang out around 50 as do cats that aren’t diabetic. It’s why we feed and monitor closely if low.
