Bama is swimming with sharks. Hope you are loading up on MC at least! Hopefully the reduction will bring safer greens although those are not unsafe. Keep a watchful eye.
Actually Bama did not go below 50 [which is, as I understand it, the place for shark swimming] as far as I'm aware. I just meant those cats in the cartoon are sitting in The Lagoon Bar, drinking Mojitas, while the sharks swim outside. And that is why their people drink. :joyful::joyful::joyful:

Gotcha. I've been there and done that.

Hi Summer! I have been thinking about you a lot... wondering how you and your mom and Boo and the dogs (and ducks!) are doing?
Hi Suzanne. We are all okay. I'm finally getting my cataract surgery this Thursday and am a nervous wreck but everyone, that has had the procedure, says it is very easy to go through. I can't help it though. Just my anxiety kicking in.

Boo has turned out to be more "feral" than I expected. He can truly be a sweet kitty but I have learned I better not pet him when he is sleeping or at certain other times because he will turn quickly and try to grab my arm and bite it. I'm hoping that this behavior will change in time. I have never had such a "stealth" cat before. He jumps up on everything. The other day he jumped up on my shower door. It did have a bath mat on it so it gave him something to grab on to. Yesterday, he used his leg to push against a wall to turn around. Jumped on top of my kitchen cabinets and maneuvered around 12, glass, collector plates without knocking any of them over. Sometimes, when I scold him, he looks like he wants to attack me  He is still quite nasty to Kali and I feel badly for her. He'll hide under my bed and then jump out and try to scratch her face. Oh, and the claws. He has a favorite chair of my mom's that he likes to claw on. I do have two scratching pads and one scratching post for him that he does use but he likes her chair. :arghh: Got a new bunch of 13 baby ducklings last week. I'm sure the neighbors are not thrilled. They were not born on my property so I will not take the blame. These ducks were here before I even moved in. My only fault is feeding them but it keeps them off the main road.

Send me a pm when you get a chance and let me know what is up with you. It is nice to hear from you.

My mom had cataract surgery 10+ years ago and it improved her eyesight greatly. The downside is she sees every smudge and speck of dirt in the house. She's a real cleaning freak. Keeps her busy. Which is good. I hope you do well, Summer. I guess you'll have one eye done this week and the next one in a week or so? I've forgotten how long between the two.

I didn't even know I had a cataract in my other eye so I am going to wait to have that one done.

Hi Summer, just checking in with you. Sounds as if you are busy as ever. Your little Boo looks like a Tuxedo, but sounds more like a calico personality! Good luck with that, but they do learn from humans so there is hope. My sweet adoptee Tuxedo’s personality is kicking up as he learns/teaches me to play. He is as agile as your Boo. One jump and lands soft as can be on the counter. I’ve also forgotten how FAST young healthy cats can be. ZOOM ZOOM ZOOM. merry Christmas Love, Carla

Hi, Carla. Good to hear from you. Yes, my little, petite Boo is a spitfire. I, also, had forgotten how fast and active younger cats can be. Boo is four but I haven't had one that young in the house in years and years. I have been adotping a little older cats. So, calico's have attitudes - huh? My little Boo certainly does. Well, at least your Cali and my Boo will keep us entertained. Looks like Cali is getting some pretty good numbers, Carla. Still don't test at night? I hope you and your family have a very Merry Christmas, too. Thanks for stopping in to say "hi".

I will, Summer. Thanks for the update!

We All Need A Good Laugh From Time To Time I don't normally dress up cats or dogs, I can barely dress (or undress) myself. o_O
Leroy and our first Christmas as a couple. He may have been 23 in this photo.
Hannah in the snow, no big deal for a Border Collie and the cats adored her.
Cynthia's cat before she met me, the same Christmas.
Noah's brother Andrew, just hated cameras

Leroy looks so sweet. I can't believe he was 23. Love the Border Collie's. They are so smart. Andrew does not look too happy with the antlers on. All very sweet pictures. Thank you for sending, Dickson.

Leroy and his brother BJ were 15 when I moved here. A connecting flight and six hours in the air, people thought I was nuts but forever has to mean something.
Andrew was born nervous. We had just moved here after losing three cats, then adopted a pair from our vet's waiting room supposedly neutered and spayed. A year later out popped four yellow cats and we kept them all. Everyone deserves kittens once in their life don't you think?
The Andy we have now came with that name, we didn't have the heart to change it.
Leroy went for a walk on his birthdays, too smart and too old to run away.

I agree that forever has to mean something. I also agree that everyone deserves a kitten (or more) once in their lifetime. It is has been so very long since I have had one. I seem to rescue or adopt older cats these days. I guess I just feel badly for them. I like the name Andy for a cat. I'll have to remember it. What cat/s do you have now? Any in the pictures? By the way, Leroy was a very pretty tuxedo. My favorite color for cats. This is my recently adopted Boo. He can be a little terror but was found in a salvage yard so probably had a pretty tough little life. He looked so much like my Susie, that I recently lost, that I just had to rescue him.

What cat/s do you have now?
Andy and Lewis are the oldest, we got them after something tragic in my extended family. It's not a secret anymore, Sam and Daniel we "confiscated" from trash neighbors. I brought Daniel back to them twice, the third time he followed me home. Someone brought us Sam, "This is your cat, right"? She knew it was not. He showed up at the back door one night almost hypothermic so end of story. Neither was chipped or neutered, no posters, nothing.
We weren't looking for a cat when I zipped into PetValu for some aquarium stuff and there was Marco, 5 minutes later I would never have seen him. The next morning we zoom to the shelter. I scoop him up, then flip him over to rub his tummy. When I put him in Cynthia's arms the deal was sealed. He came with "behavioral issues". That's because someone had been using a spray bottle on him for six years. Marco is daddy's boy, the last time I had to board him he gave me that look and I burst into tears. No Marco, we're coming back. Not sure I could ever do nine again but those days were the happiest we've ever been here.

Good luck with your surgery. Boo sounds like a feisty one. He's lucky to have found you although he is clearly keeping you on your toes.
Thanks, Alisha. I had my surgery this morning. It was not bad. No pain. I have this huge bandage on my eye right now but get it removed tomorrow. I just want to be able to see normally in that eye, again. Boo is feisty but seems to be slowly calming down a bit. Fingers crossed.:)

Not sure I have ever met or spoken to a man with so much compassion for cats. Most men don't really seem to care for them. I was fortunate. Both my Mom AND my Dad loved animals for most of their lives. Dad loved all his cats. My brother and I grew up in a very good atmosphere for loving all animals and cats and dogs were at the top of the list. Nine cats at one time? You and Cynthia were/are Saints. God bless you both and a very Merry Christmas to you both and your MIL. Hope I didn't step on toes with the Christmas wish. I just got tired years ago of feeling like I had to step on "egg shells" when wishing folks Merry Christmas.

I'm not really sure what's going on with men and cats, I've learned to just keep my mouth shut over the years and it's quite aggravating. I played mixed competitive softball for years, something women seem to drift away from as time goes by. I started again when I moved here in the Old Friends league. It was more like the 'Only if you were born here/White trash/Hairy back' league. One day I put Fuchsia colored laces in my cleats and that was the end. One guy wouldn't sit next to me anymore and the teasing turned into something else. They knew we had a dog, I knew better than to mention we had even one cat.
Neither of us are saints; we have the room, no kids and with some luck and because CJ was a financial whiz we can afford it.
The Christmas thing. I can make anything sound tragic, that wasn't my intent. I know right now there are people here suffering through worse who just don't talk about it. One of the moderators just had her dad pass away. I don't want this place to turn into some politically correct / happy holidays NOT Christmas / can't say God / everything is offensive site. Compassion isn't hard, I personally think our culture and the media have something to do with it. You have to be skinny and I need to drive a truck? That's a lot more messed up than caring about a cat.

Very well said and, on that note, Merry Christmas! I am not ashamed to say it.

Love to you and your family at this beautiful time of the year. Take care.
Hi Summer, so happy to hear you had your surgery. You have to let me know if you get that wonderful brightness that the cataracts take away. For me, pre surgery, everything was almost yellow. It was like seeing the sunshine for the first time. Hope you are doing well. Hope your mom is okay. Saw a picture you posted of Boo the other day, so sweet. Wanted to wish you the Merriest Christmas and a much happier New Year. Think of you often. Sending big loving hugs to all. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Sorry if I hijacked someone’s post but I think it yours :D

So pretty. Is she sick? How are her sisters? How are you? Are they fosters or yours? I don’t think I could foster, it would break my heart. How do you not get attached?
Oh we DO get attached! It breaks my heart every time. I tell myself that if I didn’t save them, they would most likely be dead (or their lives would be very harsh and short). What I do is rescue and tame feral kittens that I usually have to trap (unless I can grab them when they’re really tiny.). So if I don’t save them, they aren’t going to last long. I remember that they are going to be loved and cosseted by their new family. We send letters with them and their mew families almost always send us updates and photos. It helps. I have never forgotten any of them - and I have been doing this for about 20 years now.

As for Emma, in the photo above… she is very healthy. She is Darcy’s biological sister (I also have his other two sisters Sheba and Grace.) They are all in good health.

I’ve heard a lot of Merry Christmases around this Board in the last week or so.

Hi Adrienne. Good to hear from you. I had the surgery two days ago. My eye is still dilated and blurry. I'm wondering how long it will be before I can see better. I'm getting a little concerned. I saw the doctor yesterday and he said everything looked good. I never had any yellow. Just blurry - like a camera out of focus. I got some bad news the same day I had my surgery. I had a bump removed from my scalp on Tuesday and it turned out to be squamous cell carcinoma. It runs in the family. I will either have to have four to six weeks of radiation, 5 days a week, or plastic surgery. I'll meet with both doctors to discuss and decide from there. One thing is for sure. I will be losing hair. That should not bother me in light of the cancer but it does. I am not too freaked out - yet. I just want to enjoy Christmas and I'll worry about everything else later. I always wanted a wig and might be getting one.

Thanks for the Merry Christmas wishes! I, too, want to wish you a wonderful holiday and much, much better New Year! Bless you. I hope you are thinking about rescuing or adopting again.:bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Summer. I’m so glad that your surgery is over with. How is your eye doing? When do you return to the eye doc for a recheck?
Hi Suzanne. I went back to the doctor yesterday. He said everything looked good but I still have blurry vision. I guess I have to be patient. They say it will improve my long distance vision better than my close up vision so I need to keep that in mind and they did say that I would probably still require readers. I go back for another recheck on the 29th.

Love your compassion with the fostering. Mr. Darcy had a lot of siblings and I'm so glad you are taking care of them. From what I can see they all look like Darcy. I would love to do what you do but I don't have the money and mom would never approve of my fostering. Like me, she thinks I would never be able to let go. I do, desperately, want a kitten some day. They are so cute and entertaining.

Wishing you the best Christmas ever and may you, too, have a better upcoming year! Between you and me and sweet Adrienne (and so many others) - this was a tough year with the loss of our very loved kitties.

I'm happy to hear things went smoothly. Has it been okay with the bandage off?
I finally got to take the bandage off yesterday afternoon. It was really bothering me. My eyesight is a little better but I am hoping it will continue to improve. Always good to hear from you, Alisa. Hope you and your furbabies and family are doing well and I wish you a very Merry Christmas!

This has been our Christmas tree guy for the last 21 years.
I miss you Oma.
Monty our Christmas moose. He's almost as tall as our tiny tree.
Cynthia and whatever this thing is.
What a 28 pound cat looks like, two 12 pound turkeys and 4 pounds of stuffing. Miss you Kobiashi.
