Hi Guys,

Starting day 3 of Lantus. Still high this AM. So if this is a bounce is the insulin doing anything during this time? His numbers are higher now than before we started insulin. And I keep wondering if the shots are going in. No wetness and no smell, but still wondering. I'm using the BD 3/10ml 5/16" 31G needles. They feel like they go in....ugh.
 
Bounces can take up to six cycles to resolve, and numbers will wobble around during that time. If it's possible for you, it'd be good to get a before bed test. Many cats go lower at night, and we dose based on how low the dose takes the cat, so it's good to get an idea what is happening at night. Otherwise, you just have to wait out a bounce. Plus the depot needs time to build, 5-7 days. As you can see, Lantus is good at teaching you patience. :)

I used the BD's too. Maybe some tips in here that might help? Testing and Shooting Tips.

And yes, his numbers might be worse without the insulin you are giving. How is he feeling/acting otherwise? Cats are more than their numbers.

He is feeling/acting normally. Just hates getting poked and is avoiding me a bit....but right now he is sleeping on my desk while I work so maybe he still loves me ;)
