I just gave Charlie his AM shot at 102 BG on Alphatrak, which is the lowest I’ve shot him. I was preoccupied with other things & didn’t think I should have lowered his dose to .75 based on yesterday +6 of 72. I’ve already lowered his dose twice this week.

I’m not able to check on him for 6 hrs when I will check his BG.
He’s only been on insulin 3.5 weeks & the first two weeks he was on 1 U & it didn’t do anything for his numbers. Now already he’s staying low with no recent bounces, is this a good thing? Should I go to .75 this evening?
 
Yes, he has earned a reduction with that 72 yesterday. Please take his dose down to 0.75U tonight. He is beginning to look good!

If you cannot test him till +6, you may want to leave slightly higher carb food out for him. Do you have anything in 10-12% carbs?

I have FF gravy lovers- too high? I have whole earth farms chicken pate- I think it’s 10% so I will leave some out. Thank you Bhooma!
 
I’m pleased, he is 106 at +5. I should still drop him to .75 this evening, correct? He was 72 at lunch yesterday and 91 the day before at lunch.

Hi Bhooma. Charlie had .75 U last night and his BG was up to 144 this morning, the highest it’s been in awhile. I shot .75 again this morning. Should I be concerned it is starting to rise with the lower dose?

He only at a bite of the medium carb food yesterday at lunch. I did give him a little Fortiflora on his food last night for the first time.
 
He is probably just bouncing from lower numbers he must have dropped to in the last 2 days. Lantus dosing is based on how low the dose takes the cat (nadirs) and not based on preshots.
He saw such numbers at preshot even at 1U.

His +6 is 69. Do I drop him to .5 U tonight already? He didn’t eat much breakfast but is eating now.
