11/14 Acro Snuggie: BGs declining since yesterdays PM+8…

Hi all - I tested Snuggie at PM+8 this morning and his AMPS was lower than that, but i gave insulin anyway because he’s always gone up in the next hour or two. This time his BGs continued to decline. This is the first time this has ever happened so I cancelled my afternoon plans and am testing him. I fed some MC and he went up, and has plateaued in the last hour. I’ll continue monitoring but… I don’t know what to do going forward given this situation since we have never encountered it before.

what do I do this eve? Skip shot? Decrease dose? He has 6 hours til his PM shot as I write this.

@Wendy&Neko @Suzanne & Darcy @tiffmaxee @FrostD @Olive & Paula

thanks in advance!

Too early to tell. He did not earn a reduction, I don't expect him to the rest of the cycle. So I'd hold the dose unless PMPS is unusual. I expect him to bounce again though!

If you are worried about PMPS, get a +10 or +11 and post here for help. Otherwise, he didn't go below your reduction point.

I'm a little worried about how fast you went from 7.5 units to 8.5 units. Normally we hold doses at least six cycles. Snuggie will tell you if that was the right move.

Thanks! Yea I’m sure he will bounce at some point soon!

Thanks! Yea I’ve been testing all day so I am hoping to avoid a situation where I have to stay up all night.

as for the dose increase, after 7.5, we spent some time at 7.75 and 8 before going to 8.5. But perhaps that was the wrong thing to do looking at today.

Well he is seeing some nice blues today. I don’t think it’s unusual to see the AMPS or PMPS be the lowest number in the cycle —- it’s a Levemir thing. You’ve been doing a great job today, which must’ve been challenging because he doesn’t let you test his ear anymore? Is that right? Just keep testing if you can and most likely you can shoot your normal dose unless you get a number below your reduction point.

Cats on lev often have late nadirs, sometimes even at preshot. I think Wendy said Neko often would do that.

He’s back into blues @+10.5 Never went to his reduction point. I’ll see what his PMPS is but it’s looking like I’ll shoot normal dose. And set alarms :-)

@Suzanne & Darcy he was having an issue with the ear but he’s been very good today. Maybe he knows I needed to rest him? Either way he’s getting extra treats tonight!

thanks everyone - it’s been an interesting day!

Neko very often nadired at PS when on Lev, or sometimes a couple hours later. It's not unusual at all.

I see one cycle at 8 units on 11/9, then you increased to 8F. Which you held for 3 doses before increasing again.

I do like today's cycle numbers. :cool:
