Lots of people use Wedgewood to get meds made into treats as well. They do it with cerenia too.

Yes. I have heard about the Cerenia treats. I believe they make pred treats as well. It must take a lot of flavoring to make bitter Cerenia taste good. Now, I am wondering if they make Zofran treats or transdermal. So many people need Zofran for nausea and cannot get it into their cats easily.

The issue is are they as effective. I know when I first had to pill Tiffany it was nearly impossible. I got transdermal cyproheptadine but once I got better at it and started using gel capsules discovered the pills were more effective. Transdermal seems to work well with mirtazapine and hyper-t meds but I don’t know about all the others.

Hello cat peeps! I wanted to share with you about transdermal Cerenia. I just learned about it and got excited because I know some of you have cats that are hard to pill. @Liz & Minnie

Here’s the link. It’s a Wedgewood Pharmacy product, but I am thinking other pharmacies may make this as well. It appears Wedgewood makes quite a few transdermal medications.

You can also get it at Chewy’s. They will call your vet for approval. :)

I agree... but some people are desperate. I never had a problem with Mirataz being effective in my cats (in fact, I had to be careful how much I gave) but a lot of people on the kidney group report that the mirt pills work better for them (I never tried the pills... one less pill to give is a good thing.. .as long as it's effective, as you said.)

If it works great. I made my cat very vocal and agitated and didn’t help her appetite. ECID. cyproheptadine worked week but not as a transdermal. Cyproheptadine worked for Max until his body shut down.

Yes. I had better luck with the tiny cyproheptadine pills in Darcy... Mirataz didn't do much for his appetite... it got a little better but not much... but he didn't get hyper of vocal either... another one of my cats did get aggressive on it with other cats until I cut her dose... then it did help her eat. ECID. A lot of trial and error!

I have expired cyproheptadine but I can’t get a pill or a pill pocket down her right now.

I would definitely try transdermal cerenia or injectable if that's better. The pills make me nervous. This pasty beef/chicken flavor cerenia they gave me last time to give orally had him running around foaming all over the place. :(

Hey Heather. How are you and Shooter doing? I haven’t seen you around the Board in a while.

Hey Heather. How are you and Shooter doing? I haven’t seen you around the Board in a while.

Hi Suzanne, ya it has been a really tough month. We got married and moved into a new house at the beginning of the month which was great but moving is so stressful on us and our animals. Then my brother in law went into the hospital with Covid pneumonia in both lungs. We weren't sure if he was going to make it. Thankfully he is home SLOWLY recovering. Still no idea what the "aftermath" will look like for him. Then on Wednesday Dan's (my husband) birthday we woke up to messages that his nephew Matt, 23 yrs old, shot himself. :( So these last few days have been extremely hard. Shooter is doing ok, up and down of course, but I haven't really been able to focus a whole lot of him. I took TR off for now. I really can't say I'm doing any kind of protocol right now. Just going thru the motions right now. Hopefully November will be a better month for all of us.

Oh man… Heather. That’s all so much! I’m so sorry about your brother-in-law (glad he’s recovering though) and so very sad about your husband’s nephew. What a tragedy. Such a young man. Hugs to you. Take care of yourself and your husband!
