It took me 3hrs to pull him out of the green! He earned a new dosage

You don't want to "pull him out of the green"....the dark greens are great, healing numbers! You want to (hopefully) keep him in those dark greens as much time as possible. It's the lime greens you need to be more careful with. If he drops below 68, you want to try to nudge him back above it while trying not to send him any higher than necessary.

You also need to make a decision on which dosing method you want to use, Start Low, Go Slow or Modified Prozinc Method. You test often enough to do MPM but it's totally up to you. The main difference is how often you increase the dose (when needed) and at what point he "earns" a reduction. On SLGS, it's dropping below 90, on MPM, it's not until he drops below 68.

It was at 72 at +4 87at +5 & up to 128 at +6. I acccidently posted 3 threads trying to link my new thread. How do I delete the first two?

I think MPM would be best for me &`Panzer

So I shouldn't have tried to bring him up at 72?
I think we could have tried some low carb fancy feast and then check in 30 minutes
I'm going to tag @Chris & China (GA) to see what she says
Chris I was helping Christina today and told her to feed med carbs, I told you I was no good at telling what to feed and when :banghead: but no one was around
Of course on the 10-24 day cycle when he want down to 55 I told her to feed mc, after that should she have fed only lc?
Is there a guide you can tell me and her when to feed mc or lc

Christina in your remarks section when ever you feed med carb or lc put when you fed it such as fed mc AM @+5 and so on same goes for lc,and same for PM
When we feel he's at a safe # put no food

Got it :)

@Chrispooky12 I will make the changes in your SS to reflect that you areswitching over to the ReliOn meter from today.
I have sent you a request for edit access to your SS. It will come to the gmail account associated with the SS. Check the spam folder as well since it sometimes goes straight there! :)
Ok thank you going to check now.

Hi Chris Christina just switched to the Relion Premier this morning and to MPM

So now since she's using a human meter so now increases and decreases would be if he drops below 50 , is this correct, I was reading this on the prozinc link
@Chris & China (GA)

Thanks Chris :bighug::cat:

So I shouldn't have tried to bring him up at 72?

As long as he's not below 68, I'd try just a little of his regular low carb food and test again in 30 minutes to see if just a little food would stop him from dropping further and just nudge him up a little. We want them to spend as much time as possible in those dark green (and low blue) numbers. If he continued to drop with the LC, then (depending on how much/how fast he was dropping) you would try a little medium or high carb. It's something you have to learn about YOUR cat....what carb percentage works for Panzer to slow down a drop, what percentage to bring him up just a little, what percentage to use to bring him back up fast, etc. Keeping good notes in the "remarks" will help you. If you have a situation today, you can look back to another day and see what you did and what happened and make a decision whether to repeat the same thing you did the last time or want to try something different. It really is all about "Knowing Thy Cat" and what works for one cat won't necessarily work for another.

You might see somebody else's thread with comments like "Look at that lovely surf!" or "Show us those surfing skills, (cat's name)!"

We call it "surfing" when they spend lots of time in those good numbers.

Reducing the dose:
  • If your cat is in the first 3-6 months of diagnosis, reduce the dose by 0.25u anytime you see a BG below 50 on a human meter or 68 on a pet meter.
  • If your cat is between six months to a year of diagnosis, look at the overall picture of your data to determine if a 0.25u reduction is warranted on a single number below 50.

Ok thank you Chris we are now using a human meter the relion premier. All of that stuff has been updated on his spreadsheet. So the low # on it would be 50 or below if I'm remembering correctly?

Hi Christina
On a human meter, 50 is your “take action” number meaning it's time to intervene with food to bring the BG up and also you would decrease see post # 33 and #34 above
The numbers are on the lower right hand side of each post
