10/23, Kahlua, PMPS=342,+2=329

Does anyone have the caliper millimeter measurements for the BD Ultra Fine syringes? @Kahluasmom is thinking about getting calipers and I don't have the measurements for her syringes. She could use some help here - just as I did when I first started using them. Thanks!

The measurements are available in the Dosing with calipers sticky.
If you are using BD syringes, 1U = 1.62mm.

Let me know if you have any questions. :-)

@JaxBenji

If I remember correctly, you are the one who likes to work with numbers. Can you provide the following caliper measurements for Kahluamom? She is using the BD fine syringes.

.25 U = ?
.50 U = ?
.75 U = ?
1.0 U = 1.62 mm
1.25 U = ?
1.50 U = ?
2.00 U = ?

I was never comfortable figuring these measurements and always asked for help when going higher than 2.00. I would appreciate your help and then she can print the information and tape it to the inside of a kitchen cabinet for reference. Marje provided me with this information in the beginning and I was grateful. Thank you!

You just multiply the number of units with the 1U mm. So:

0.25 U = 0.25 X 1.62 = 0.405 mm
.50 U = 0.50 X 1.62 = 0.81 mm
.75 U = 0.75 X 1.62 = 1.215 mm
1.0 U = 1.62 mm
1.25 U = 1.25 X 1.62 = 2.025 mm
1.50 U = 1.5 X 1.62 = 2.43 mm
2.00 U = 2 X 1.62 = 3.24 mm

So......I need to leave Kahlua for the day. Im planning to be back by 5. Is this safe? Also-do I have to have the Harbor Freight calipers? Can I get them elsewhere? Our store is out.

Yes. Feed some LC now and leave some out. 5pm would be +8 or so?

You can get a different brand. You want one with the screw atop the display to be able to lock the arms and one with a 0.01 mm resolution.

Thank you! That was my plan. I've got 2 dishes that I plan to hide in her room. Hopefully she'll have to work for it a bit and not chow it all down. Stinker!

No, you don't have to have the Pittsburgh or Harbor Freight calipers. JUST MAKE SURE you get calipers that have the mm (millimeter) measurement. I just suggested the Pittsburgh because those are the ones I have and I am familiar with them. Like Bhooma said, make sure they have the screw on the top so you can lock in the number.

I got the calipers.....but they don't do hundreths.....just tenths. I'll have to be patient and order some.

So......should I start increasing her insulin today? I am home most of the time until Wednesday. And Wednesday I can stop back and check on her.

Also....Thursday I can give her the insulin on time and then check her at like +4....Friday I have to leave before her shot. What can I do? I can't change the appt.

Today is Day 7 on 1U and you are due for an increase to 1.25U tomorrow.

And yes, you want callipers that read upto 2 decimals (0.01 mm rather than 0.1mm).

When do you have to leave and when will you be back?

Okay! That's kind if what I thought. Friday I have to leave about 8. She gets her dose at 9. I don't know when I'll be back. This is Neuropsychology testing. I don't know how long it takes. 2 hours? 3?

You can move your shot time ahead by 30 mins from the day before and then move it back from the day after as below:

Wednesday - 9:00 am/pm (usual time)
Thursday - 8:30am/pm (half hour ahead)
Friday - 8:00am/pm (half hour ahead)
Saturday - 8:30am/pm (half hour later)
Sunday - 9:00 am/pm (usual time)

Is this doable?

Yes! I kind of thought it had to be within 15 minutes, so them I'd need to start moving things now. But it would mess up Thursday. Way too many appts. going on right now. Yikes! Thank you!
