Next time get a pen as they last to the last drop. You still use syringes with the pen. Less than 6 months it should be good though. All I can think of is the reductions you were taking by doing .50 instead of .25 led to glucose toxicity or he’s dropping later than tested at night and bouncing.

My vials lasted 5-6 months and I had to throw out half a bottle. My pens I used to the last drop.

i asked the vet and that is what she prescribed we used to get pens from another vet.
I'm not sure about throwing out 100 dollars my mom will rather pay to put him down.

how can you tell the vial is not good?.
 
It’s hard to know unless there are particles seen or cloudy. If not it loses efficacy around 5-6 months. Some get a longer time. Do you shoot insulin back into the vial? Is it kept in the fridge?

yes, its in the fridge.
i try to not get bubbles in the syringe but i do not take the needle from the bottle.
 
If you are shooting back insulin into the bottle it will shorten the life of the insulin. Better to draw up a little extra and try and get the bubbles out after you take the syringe out of tge vial. Tge syringe has a lubricant that can effect the insulin

however he got the overdose with the same bottle.

my mom is just cold blooded. she just dont want to keep that cat or us struggling

i thought they were into saving cats.
He cutting his funding. I'm very sad about it and about macho not getting blue or green.

You never roll lantus or inject back into the bottle. She’s showing a different insulin. That will make your insulin last a shorter time. We might have solved your problem.

No. Do not put air in the bottle. First prime the syringe before you out it into the vial. Then insert it into the vial and draw up a little more than you need. Pull out the syringe from the bottle. Then flick the bubbles to the top of the syringe. Then try to remove the bubbles. I often did not get all the tiny bubbles out. I did the best I could. Get rid of any extra. Don’t inject more than the desired amount, especially since you are increasing by .50. Better a little less if there’s a bubble it won’t hurt him

I have not done this in 5 years. Go by whatever Marje says as far as air. I did pens mostly.

Good to know it cost us 100 dollars. I'm going to call the vet today and let them know.

after an argument with the vet we got the last prescription for lantus.
He wants 400.00 only for fructosamine test.
i found a vet far from us in queens ny he charge 75.00 so i guess we are taking him there.
Lets hope this new Lantus pen works.
